I’m A Little Teapot

March 20, 2014
While God sacrificed His Son so that we may be saved, He also desires us to sacrifice our lives to allow Him to pour us out and use us as He pleases. In order to not waste the time you have here on earth, allow God to pour you out and use you as part of His work, no matter what it costs you because it is worth it in the end.

Often times we can get caught up in our lives doing whatever it is we want to do and God comes along, calls us out and stops us in our tracks. When God uses something to get our attention, we need to stop, repent, and follow where He leads.

As believers, this world is only a terminal that we wait in for our eventual trip to Heaven. However, God has us waiting in this place for a reason and, being aware of where we’re going, may we obey Him and live out our purpose while we wait to go home.

When you give your life to God He gives you purpose, ultimately bringing glory to Him. Seek Him and find what specific things He wants from your life, write it down, and live it out.

You are going to have pain in this life, but God has a bigger plan through which His glory comes out of your mourning. Seek Him at all times, especially during tragedy and He will put joy in your heart that no one around you may understand but nothing can take it from you.

We all need encouragement every now and then, but few people are willing to give it in fear of building a big ego. Rather than letting anything stop us from encouraging others, we should simply encourage them as God leads us to, and let God deal with a person’s ego. Although God does not need it, He loves for us to praise Him, and in doing so we ourselves gain encouragement.

Just as Peter in the Bible was taught that God loves and accepts all people of any sort, even those previously seen as unclean, we must be willing to look at others through God’s eyes. Regardless of the possibility of feeling on comfortable, we must be willing to say “yes” to God when He calls us to reach out to other people.

When we look at ourselves simply for who we are, we do not normally see someone great. However, because God is in us if we have chosen to follow Him, He has adopted us into His family and it is only because of Him that we are great.

Everyone has different struggles with sin, but they all fall under similar categories because the devil only has so many kinds of arrows. When you continue to entertain thoughts of those sins, you are living in disobedience to God and you will suffer consequences. Surrender to Him and live in the freedom that He offers to you.

Anything that you build your life on other than Jesus Christ is a sham and you will crumble with trials come. Suffering is an inevitable part of life, but when Christ is your foundation rather than any other person, material or habit, He gives you the strength to stand firm against the crushing waves of life.

When a person becomes a believer they are born again spiritually and need to be cared for and nurtured as a new infant. If you are a new believer, look for others who can disciple you. If you are a growing Christian, look for new believers who need help to grow spiritually.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
