God has clearly warned us against sin throughout Scripture to lay out a path for us to avoid consequence. Once we choose to follow His way, we should be on the look out to take anyone with us who will come.

Rather than trying to conquer your biggest sin struggle at once, try focusing on the small stuff and overcoming those things. Once you begin to win it starts a snowball effect and eventually you will overcome the big stuff with God’s help.

Too often we get overwhelmed by the things the world throws at us instead of focusing on what we’re here to do. Jesus gave us a job to take the Gospel to the whole world and when we trust in Him to accomplish this through us there is nothing that we can’t do.

Once we become a Christians it is essential that we find a church to plug into and get involved through service. God can use whatever is in our past to touch someone else as long as we let Him.

While God knows everything we need and want, He wants us to come to Him in relationship and ask Him for these things like a child asks their earthly parents for the things they want. As a loving Father, He will only give us the things that are best for us, but He wants us to ask Him and trust Him all along.

We are either being used by God or being used by the devil. It is our choice to obey what God is calling us to do, no matter how dirty our hands get in the process. When we choose to not be used by Him we are allowing ourselves to be used by the devil to destroy ourselves or others.

When Jesus rose from the dead, even His own disciples doubted Him and raised questions. God is big enough to take on any questions and doubts you have, but you also must be ready to put your faith in the truth that He gives you. Jesus is alive and sits at the right hand of God interceding for us, and He will always provide for all that we need.

The resurrection of Christ was the pivotal moment when those who choose to follow Jesus now have a way of escape from judgement, sin and death. There were countless sightings of Jesus on the Earth following the crucifixion and with those ‘He’s Back’ encounters came plots by the enemy to launch a counterattack and everyone who would believe on Christ (including us). Thankfully, God provides a way of escape. The Word of God, The Blood of The Lamb, and the word of our testimony. These are our weapons.

There was never a time when Jesus’ life was not under some attack of siege, attack or threat of destruction especially from religious leaders of the day. They thought they had silenced Him once and for all with His crucifixion; yet, we know that on the third day, even that ‘burial plot’ couldn’t hold Him. These dark forces unfortunately are still hard at work today trying to silence His message. It certainly takes courage to follow Jesus knowing that we will face these challenges. But rejoice “greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world!”

When Jesus was crucified, His last words that He spoke while hanging on the cross told the thief He would see him in paradise, told His brother to take care of His mother, spoke of his humanness in being thirsty, and finally proclaimed the completion of the payment for sin. Christ’s death was the full payment once and for all, taking all of our sin on Himself, and finishing all that was needed so that we may be free.

When Jesus died on the cross He took all of our sin, past, present and future, and nailed it to the cross with Himself. We are offered complete forgiveness for all our sin and guilt, and in order to live in this freedom we must accept what is offered and move forward, leaving our sin nailed to the cross.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
