Hell Boy

Jesus knew in the beginning that Judas would betray Him and yet He still let him close and served him. The devil knew that he could not get into Jesus so he got as close as he could but even through that Jesus gave us an example of loving our enemies. Regardless of the circumstances and whom we are called to serve, we need to obey God at all cost because we will have to answer to Him one day.

We all tend to point our fingers at other people and judge their sin when we hide a sin that no one likes to talk about because it makes us uncomfortable. Gluttony is talked about specifically in the Bible as a sin, but we do not think of this when we sit down at a table full of food. We need to stop judging others and go to someone we trust in our life to help us clean out our cupboards from the temptation of pigging out.

When God tells us to do something, it’s not smart to put it off or blatantly disobey. We need to listen to God’s voice and immediately obey His promptings when He tells us what to do or who to help. When we thank for all the things He’s done for us, our love for Him grows and we more willingly serve Him.

We all have sin in our lives that we would rather ignore than get rid of, just like a jug of sour milk that stays in the fridge. But God is our provider and will never let us be empty. He is simply waiting for us to pour out our sour milk so that He can pour out His blessings on our lives.

There are certain sins in our life that we find ourselves entangled in. The Bible says that we are dead to sin yet we do not live that way day to day. Rather than sinning as much as we can knowing that God will forgive us, we need to acknowledge that there are consequences to our sin and we need to live lives of obedience and faithfulness to God.

As followers of Christ we are all called to be witnesses and give testimony to what God has done in our lives with others. The Bible tells us that if we are not reaching out to others and witnessing, we are not following Christ close enough.

Jesus told His disciples numerous times that He would die and be raised from the dead, yet they were still shocked when it happened. We know that unless Jesus comes back we are all going to die, and God calls us to believe and repent before then. We must wake up and obey His call before it’s too late.

The issue of racism is not a government problem but rather a church problem. It is our job as Christians to treat all believers as family, as brothers and sisters because in Christ there is no distinction. The only thing that can keep us together as family regardless of differences is love.

It’s easy to get angry when we see someone who lived their whole life in sin, even criminal activity, and at the last minute they accept Christ as their Savior right before their death. Though it seems like they do not suffer all the consequences of their sin, they can’t help but to wish they had their life to relive so that they could live it for Him.

When it comes to life after death we can all try to imagine what it will be like. The Bible promises us that we will be in one of two places: heaven for those who believe in Christ and accept Him as Savior, or hell for those who do not. Rather than being content with this life, we must look past the world to what lies ahead and make a decision to either own heaven as our home or to be left only ever imagining what it would be like.

When we speak up about the difference that Jesus has made in our lives, religious people hate it. They hated Jesus for the miracles He performed and the truth that He spoke, yet He did not back down and it eventually got Him to the cross. We must be willing to speak up for Jesus everywhere we go, even if one day it becomes illegal.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
