He Wants You!

May 27, 2013

God chose you before the foundation of the world, but the sacrifice He made to have you was death of His Son. God loves you enough to have paid that price, but you still must choose to follow Him. When you enlist in God’s army, He allows for circumstances in your life to strengthen you and to cause you to rely on Him.

It is easy for us to remain lukewarm, using only our words to show that we believe in Christ. The Bible tells us that we must choose to follow Him with our whole heart, allowing Him to lead us in every way. Although straddling the fence feels like indecision to you, it is a decision to God because anything less than serving Him is serving the devil.

God desires a close relationship with each of us, yet there must always remain an awe and respect for Him. If we do not respect God and obey what He calls us to do, we risk our heart becoming hardened and God taking us out because weare no good to Him with a hard heart. We must hear God’s voice in our lives and be receptive to respectfully obey His call.

The Bible tells us that no matter how clean we make ourselves, we are filthy with sin unless we are washed in the blood of Christ. Jesus came to earth in a body because there had to be a blood sacrifice in order to wash away the sins of theworld. We must respond to Him and allow Him to cover us with His blood so that we may approach God.

The Bible tells us that when we become a believer in Christ that we are supposed to go public by the first act of obedience through baptism. After that we need to openly share the Gospel with those around us, not only by living a certain way so that they can see but also by using words to tell them about Christ.

The world offers nothing that can satisfy us and yet we continue to search for things of this world. Jesus says that He is the Bread of Life and it is only in Him that we can find satisfaction. We must stop filling ourselves with worldly things and fill ourselves with Him so that we may have eternal life.

We are not supposed to catch and release when it comes to sharing the Gospel. We must follow Jesus and teach others to do the same. Following Jesus requires authenticity because acting it out and faking it is not an option. It’s expensive either way, but it’s worth the price to follow Christ.

The devil knows what bait to use to lure you into temptation and sin. In every temptation there is always an escape if we look for it. Mistakes will be madeand there is always forgiveness although that does not relieve us of the consequences. The only person who can show us how to run from temptationand overcome the struggle is Jesus, but we must run to Him first.

We all spend money on things that bring us immediate pleasure, but the Bible challenges us to spend money that brings eternal reward. We do that when we give to our church and those to whom the Lord prompts us to give.

The world advertises sex before marriage as simply part of the dating process.Men and women rarely ever wait for anything anymore. All these stories haveled to significant consequences. Rather than following the world’s way of dating, there is great reward in waiting on God to bring you someone who is interested indoing things His way.

If you are a Christian, God has picked you to be His child, a prince or princessin His Kingdom. God equips you with what you need here in this world, so rather than trying to be someone else or fight someone else’s way, accept who you areand be yourself. God chose you because He wants you specifically.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
