He Loves Me Not

July 29, 2019

At some point we must stop doubting whether or not God loves us and put our faith in the fact that He does. How could He send His only Son to die on our behalf if He did not love us? Our feelings will come and go, but His love for us is everlasting.

A crucial part of the Christian life is studying Scripture. God wants us to be engrossed in the Scriptures so that He can use us to help explain truth and life to those who are seeking it. He doesn’t want us to merely be able to explain what something says, but also tell how it is to be applied to one’s life, and that happens when the Holy Spirit lays on our heart the truth that is right in front of us.

This world only has so much to offer that money can buy. It is when we invest in others’ lives that we are making an investment in eternal treasure that we will receive one day in Heaven. When we lose our life to Christ on earth, we gain so much more in eternity.

God calls us all to preach the Gospel to anyone we come in contact with, whether we go to another country on a mission trip or to our office, neighborhood or other place locally. The world is hungry for knowing the true God, and many of them are trying their best to follow what they understand or have imagined of Him, but He’s given us the Gospel to spread and help bring others into believing the truth and becoming part of His family.

Prayer does not have to be an eloquent speech but rather a simple conversation with God. The Bible tells us to find a quiet place alone to talk to Him. Prayer helps build relationship with God and allows for the opportunity for us to see God answer our prayers.

God emphasizes the necessity of teaching His Word to our children, and that includes both physical and spiritual kids. When we lead another person to Christ we cannot abandon them to figure things out on their own. We need to learn from others so that we can teach others and nurture and grow disciples who make disciples.

When we live in sin we are letting the devil have full access to our lives. While he cannot possess us, he can get us to believing his lies which infiltrates into our actions. We can resist his efforts by meditating on Scripture, worshipping God, forgiving others and letting Jesus have control.

Our identity should not be found in ourselves but rather in Christ. When we choose to follow Him we accept the call to die daily to ourselves and live as He tells us to live. Before we try to figure out who we are, we must accept and understand whose we are and let Him live in and through us.

God may be speaking to you and telling you to do something but you’re not hearing it because you’re looking for an extravagant manifestation of His voice. Listen for His soft whisper and obey what He is telling you to do.

We all have a conscience built within us that creates some boundaries in our lives, and we know when we’ve crossed those boundaries. Instead of carrying around the guilt of our sin everywhere we go, we can find forgiveness and freedom in Christ who can wipe our conscience clear.

God designed us to work and to rest, but our true rest can only come through Him. When we follow God and do things His way, even our work for Him is refreshing. We must take time to care for ourselves so that we do not burn out and find ourselves in a position of inability to do anymore.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website ( join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
