Haunted House

October 31, 2012

When you become a Christian, the Holy Spirit comes in you and will never leave you.  You become a haunted house because you are filled with the Spirit.  Although you have authority in the Spirit, when addressing the evil demons in this world, we must rely on the authority of Jesus Christ to be on our side.  There are plenty of evils in this world, yet God has chosen us as His followers to dwell in us in order so that we may become more like Him and be able to fight against the powers of darkness.  Once the Spirit dwells in us there is nothing that can ever separate Him from us.

When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, they brought evil into the makeup of all mankind.  We cannot escape the evil that is in all of us.  The only good that can be found in us is from Jesus Christ when He lives in us.  God desires that we truly live in the way that He intended us to, but the only way we can do that is repenting of our own sinfulness and living in obedience to Him.

The importance of reading Scripture cannot be spoken of enough.  We read the Word on a daily basis and meditate on it so that it can fulfill its purpose in our lives.  Scripture is there to teach us true doctrine, to reprove, to correct and to instruct so that we may be a complete person.  God uses other people to speak the truth of Scripture in our life, but we must be sure to feed ourselves the spiritual food that can only be found in reading and meditating on the Word so that we do not allow the spirit within us to become starving.

There are moments in our lives that have affected us very deeply, whether it be moments when people have hurt us or moments when we have hurt others.  We tend to carry the weight of those moments around with us for a very long time, for many it can be for the rest of their life.  The hope is in that God delights in turning the manure of our lives into something beautiful to be used by Him to make a difference in others.  All we have to do is forgive, whether it be others or ourselves, and move on.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
