Hail Mary

December 13, 2011

There are numerous times in Scripture when God sent an angel to bring a message to someone that involved something supernatural having to happen.  When the angel, Gabriel, came to Mary and told her that she would give birth to the Son of God, she gave the perfect response because she willingly accepted whatever the Lord willed for her.  When God calls us to something, we need to not get hung up on the impossibility of it but rather trust Him to provide whatever is needed.  At Christmas time, there are so many opportunities to tell others the Gospel, so may we embrace those moments with boldness, trusting God to give us the words and the courage when necessary.

We all have certain dates in our lives that are great dates to remember, and also difficult dates as well.  No matter what the date of any day is, it is the day that the Lord made and we should rejoice and be glad in it.  Rather than allowing Satan to rule over those difficult dates, we must remember the Spirit that God has given us – of power, love and a sound mind – and reclaim those dates to give them to the Lord.  Out of every date in our lives, the most important one of all is the date that we choose to follow Jesus, knowing that it is His blood that covers our lives with His grace and gives us salvation.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website ( join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
