God Don't Never Change

September 18, 2020

We live in a world that brings constant change, and often that can come with scary circumstances invoking fear and restlessness all around us. When we are God’s child, we can trust that He will take care of us, and there is nothing in this world that we need to fear. He promises that He is with us always, and even if death comes our way we look forward to being with Him in Heaven forever.

The Bible tells us that no matter what we do or how we grow, it all must be rooted in godly love or else it’s meaningless. When God shows us an area of our lives that needs to change, our maturity is deepened when we listen and respond in obedience.

When we listen to God, He will lead us to meet the needs of people that cross our path. Since all our stuff is His anyway, we need to be good stewards of what is His and distribute it where He wants us to. When we give to other people, Scripture tells us to give in secret so that they do not find out and give glory to God.

As Christians, we ought to be waiting on the Spirit to blow some wind in our sails, and allow Him to guide us to where He wants us to go. Then, when we’re there, we need to listen and watch for what He is doing so that we can respond in an appropriate manner. The Holy Spirit desires to use us to do extraordinary things, but we can’t do those things without Him and so we must wait, listen, watch and respond.

As Christians, we have the Holy Spirit living in us and working through us to fulfill God’s will. When we are prompted to share the Gospel with whoever we are talking to, we need to step out in obedience and do it because we may not know the work that God is doing behind the scenes.

Jesus went through excruciating suffering in order for us to be saved. When He says in Scripture that we are to take up our cross and follow Him, that means that we need to be ready at any moment to give our lives for His sake. Even if we don’t ultimately die a physical death on His behalf, we need to die to ourselves and follow His will in our everyday lives.

When we choose to follow Jesus, He leads us to other broken people in need of a healing Savior. Instead of ignoring people’s sin that is destroying them, we show that we love others by our willingness to sound the trumpet where there is sin in their lives and help them take steps out of their entanglement.

The world is filled with what-if questions that can keep anyone bound in life-controlling fear. God has not only made a way for us to be saved for eternity, but He has offered peace for our souls in that when we put our full trust in Him there is nothing this world could bring that we need to fear.

The Christian life is like a race that we are running, and the devil will do everything he can to try to take us out. We must let go of whatever is holding us back and run the race, focusing on the prize at the end.

Too often we hold back things in our own lives, such as our talents, our time or our money, because we think that if we offer it up that God is just going to take it all away and leave us empty handed. Instead of holding onto these things in our lives, we should offer them to God because He has shown that He can take whatever we have to give, no matter how small, and multiply it, and He will supply all our needs.

Divorce is so common in the world that we live in because too often people are trying to do things on their own. The only way that a relationship will grow to build a strong marriage is if it is built on the rock, that being Jesus Christ.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
