The story of Peter sharing the Gospel with Cornelius, a gentile, is an example to us that God will sometimes stretch us to break traditions for His purpose of reaching others. We must make sure to be listening to God and not going off and doing things on our own. The people He calls us to reach and the places He calls us to go may stretch us, but everyone is in need of Him, even ourselves.

The story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead showed the disciples that even death cannot stop Him, yet when He did and was placed in a tomb they doubted what He had promised. Nothing is impossible for God to do in our lives and we need to remember that and trust Him.

Our lives change when we are broken over our sin and we experience God’s forgiveness when we repent. Then we need others to help us put the pieces together and show us how it looks to live the Christian life. Because of others helping us, we can get to a place of being able to help others who feel like they are in pieces.

The Bible tells us that everything in creation is held together by God and He is present in every place. There is nothing that we can do to get away from Him, so when we finally surrender to Him He begins to live inside of us through His Spirit. Once He is inside of you and you are saved, you can never lose Him and He will always be with you.

Because of Christ’s death on the cross, we have all been given the grace and forgiveness needed to be accepted by God as His children. There is no sin too great to be covered by His grace. Once we experience His grace in our own lives, we can share that with the hurting people around us.

The Bible is filled with instruction for all of God’s people to turn from sin and follow Him. We cannot follow God, carry on a relationship with Him and worship Him with our lives when we are continuing down the path of sin. We must change our mind about our sin, turn completely away from it and toward God so that we can truly follow Him in the right direction.

There are all kinds of categories of people that come into a church, but God has called those a part of His Church to be involved with one another and live in community. Knockers are unbelievers seeking for God, and also they are believers continually pursuing God. Rockers are those who live out the Gospel and what Christ has called us to, rocking the world as they go. May we be both.

Being smart is very different than being wise, and as children of God we are instructed to grow in wisdom in order so that we may make wise choices. The more that we seek after wisdom the more we develop the Pop Eye, seeing things through Gods eyes. Wisdom involves knowing what the right thing is to do and acting on that, making good choices to avoid future downfall or mistakes.

God provided a way of justice for our sins through Christ’s death on the cross so that we can be brought into perfect peace in relationship with Him. When we have peace with God, we can see past the differences of others and extend peace to them.

Scripture tells us that nothing is impossible with God, but He always works for his own glory. When we are living in obedience to God, there is nothing that can stand in our way. He may allow difficulties to come, but it is only so that others may see His glory in and through it all.

One of the greatest way to determine how well our lives are being used by God is by examining the parts of our lives that have been wasted. Instead of falling into temptations of distraction and momentary pleasure, we must run and fight with endurance, staying focused on Jesus to finish this life having used it for His glory.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
