Everyday

December 26, 2017

We often long for things out of the ordinary, yet the Christian life is meant to be lived on an everyday basis. There will be times of trials and struggles, when life is pressing hard on us, but the hope is that God has promised that we will never be crushed.

We didn’t get to be there when Jesus walked the earth, but we have God’s truth in Scripture to believe that He came. Another evidence of Jesus is the change that takes place when we believe in Him. We may not see Him face to face until we die or He comes back, but we can see His work in others and believe.

There is nothing that we have that was not given to us by God, even the air we breathe. He wants to use us as part of His plan to reach the world with the Gospel, but we must first be willing to give ourselves back to Him as a living sacrifice.

God offers each of us a completely free gift that He paid for with the death of His Son, Jesus Christ. All we have to do is reach out and receive it. Once we have this greatest gift, we can do nothing but respond in worship.

We often say that Jesus is the reason we celebrate Christmas, but the truth is that Jesus came to earth for us so we are the true reason for the season. He offers us the gift of eternal life and all we have to do is accept it and let Him come live in us and through us.

God doesn’t choose the people that would seem logical in the eyes of the world to be part of His Kingdom. It is simply those who believe in Him and obey His Word that become part of His family.

We can have plenty of relationships in our lives and we may feel love from them at certain points, but the deepest and truest love that we could ever receive is from God. The Bible is filled with verses that describe God’s love for us that went so deep that He gave His own Son just so that we could be in relationship with Him.

The story of the birth of Jesus is filled with wise people, not just the Wise Men, who responded to God and His leading in their lives. Only by following God do we gain true wisdom, and therefore we can only boast in God and the wisdom He gives us rather than in ourselves.

When we have a growing relationship with God, He compels us to do things and live a certain way that may seem crazy to the world but makes sense to Him. We need to make sure that our motivation for everything we do comes from God, for His purpose and to bring Him glory.

Abortion has become another form of birth control, but the Bible is very clear on its stance about life and innocent blood. No matter what choices and mistakes we have made in the past, God offers us abundant life in Him and we can accept His forgiveness, mercy and grace, but first we must accept the truth of our sin.
December 15, 2017
When we become Christians and God begins transforming our hearts, He compels us to love deeply, to have mercy and compassion on others, and to be moved to the point of action. We must submit to His prompts and be His hands and feet in the world, showing others that there truly is something different about us.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
