Certain Death

November 9, 2010
There are times when a severe storm approaches and the warning goes out that if people don’t respond, they are doomed to certain death. The same can be said spiritually that unless people head the warning of giving their life over to Christ, there will be certain death – the second death. Jesus was clear, the writers of the New Testament were clear, and the Book of Revelation puts it very clear – those who have ears to hear, let them hear! Surrender your life to Christ or you will be certain of the final death.

Most everyone has heard about the five-second rule where something falls to the ground and you have five seconds to pick it back up in order to still eat it. We need to apply the same rule in our own lives where when we sin, or break fellowship with someone that we immediately go to god or to that person and say we are sorry. Otherwise, it can become insensitive to any restoration and go on doing our own thing, blaming everything and everyone in our path.

When you look at a can of soda, all the ingredients are there for it to taste good, but it is the power of the carbonation that makes it fizz. And if this can is left out over a period of time, it grows flat. That’s the same way it is with us as Christians. The ingredients are all there, we just need the power of the Holy Spirit along with our faith to put the “fizz” into our walk and our effectiveness. Otherwise, we will just grow flat.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
