Bring It

There is a common temptation for anyone to be lazy, not working hard and in turn not developing the skills that they have. Rather than giving into this temptation, Christians are called to do everything for the glory of God. That means that if you are skilled at something, develop that skill, or if you work any sort of job, do it to the best of your ability no matter what it is or what the human standard is set for you. The fact is, if you are a Christian then God is your boss and you are to do everything as if doing it for Him.

In the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, the king ordered that they be thrown into a furnace of fire heated seven times more than it was originally because they would not bow down to an idol. When the king realized that they had an angel of the Lord with them in the fire and that the fire was not harming them at all, he brought them out and praised their God. Sometimes God turns up the heat in our life by walking with us through difficult circumstances so that we can in turn become a blue flame for Him that can do some significant work in the world.

There are specific stories in Scripture about various women who God used in the genealogy of His Son, Jesus. However, these stories tell of many of these women making mistakes and yet God redeems them. The message is applicable to all but spoken to women specifically that if you have made some mistakes in your life, there is still hope for you because we believe in a God who can do the seemingly impossible and He still wants to use you. For those women who have always tried to do the right thing, God wants to use you, too, because He used a virgin, Mary, to bear His Son. No matter what your past holds, God desires to use you greatly if you give Him the opportunity.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
