Bird Poop

May 4, 2012
Before God led the Israelites into the land that He promised to them, He instructed them to worship and thank Him for it out of the faith that He would provide what He said.  Jesus tells us that we can be assured of God’s provision in our life by looking at the birds of the air and seeing that they are cared for because God cares even more for us.  Bird poop is evidence that a bird has been fed, so may we always be reminded to trust God, knowing that He is the Alpha and Omega and knows our situation even greater than we do and He will always provide what we need.

Anyone can read words on a page, but the words in Scripture do not make a difference until the Holy Spirit reveals the truth in a life-changing way.  Rather than just reading the words, we need to ask God to help those words jump off the page and infiltrate our lives so that we begin to understand the depths of His love.  Once the words in Scripture make a difference in us, God will begin working through us to change others’ lives because they notice the depth in our spirit that those words have fostered.  When Scripture truly means something to us, we can help it mean something for other people.

Throughout Scripture God has designated a certain order to things.  We are to give Him the first fruits of our labor, and then take care of ourselves because He promises to always provide our basic needs.  We are to love Him first so that we can learn to love ourselves for who we are which will follow into loving others as ourselves.  All these things He has commanded have a certain order, and it always starts with Him.  Before we can receive much from Him, we must give up all that we cling to.  It is in this order that we find all that He has promised because we are doing things in the way that He designed them to be done.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
