Babe Ruth

January 3, 2014
The story of Ruth in the Bible shows a great example of what it means to trust God and obey. Ruth’s loyalty to Naomi and obedience to what she said led Ruth to marry Boaz, and later in their family line was Joseph, the father of Jesus who saved the world.

As one year comes to a close and another begins, it is good to reflect on how you used your time over the past year to bring honor and glory to God. The Bible tells us to do all things for Him, so as we move forward into a new year may we not waste the time that He has given us.

Scripture gives us hope in the promise that we as believers will be in a new heaven and new earth with God someday. For those who do not believe, they do not have the hope that we have. If you are lost and need to be saved you can turn to God and become a new creation where your past stays in the past and He lives in you and through you.

It’s easy to get distracted by all the things around us so that we cannot hear God’s voice. When we stop to listen and He tells us what to do, we need to respond in immediate obedience. Listening only makes a difference when it is followed by action.

We do not know when God will say that our time on earth is done. Rather than wasting the time we are given we need to obey God in everything He tells us to do so that He can live in us and through us to reach as many people as possible.

Cheating in any relationship is always accompanied by guilt and shame that makes the cheating not ever worth it. Cheating is not always done through a physical act, but it starts in the heart. When you say that you love God, make sure that your heart is completely loyal to Him and not straying.

Jesus was shown to be raised in three different ways in Scripture; the first with His parents in His childhood, the second when the guards raised Him on the cross, and the third when God raised Him from the dead. We must look to Him to be saved and tell others to do the same.

The difference between Jesus and other earthly kings is that He was never made to be king at some point in His life, He was born the king of kings. When we accept His gift of salvation that He gave His life to pay for, we are submitting our lives to Him to let Him lead us through every decision each day.

At some point you have to choose to believe what the Bible says no matter how crazy it may sound because God has perfectly orchestrated the story of salvation laid out in Scripture. When you believe and become a Christian, you become born again and God lives inside of you and everyone around you should be able to see that.

God has offered the most valuable gift of salvation and all we have to do is accept it. Once we are saved we can give our lives to God for Him to use however He pleases. His presence is the greatest gift and we can look forward to one day being in His presence forever.
December 23, 2013
The Bible tells us that Jesus is the only way to get to God. As Christians, it is our job to spread the message of the Gospel and help others put together the pieces of their life in accordance with Christ. Make sure that you are ready to give a reason for the hope that you have when an opportunity presents itself.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
