Why Walking God’s Way Actually Feels Better

When a woman in Kazakhstan started living by God’s guidelines even in small things, she discovered something unexpected—it felt better.

Bonnie Sala: What does crossing the street have to do with faith? I’m Bonnie Sala with Reset.

Karlgash lives in Kazakhstan, a country in Central Asia. Her story starts with a busy street.

Guest (Female): I used to cross busy streets wherever I felt like it, not at a pedestrian crossing. This made drivers uneasy and even angry. I did not care.

Bonnie Sala: Then she heard a devotional about living God's way even in the small things, and something shifted.

Guest (Female): I started to be more civilized. My self-esteem has improved and I feel much better about myself. I guess you are right, there is a God who wants us to be more orderly.

Bonnie Sala: That last line is worth sitting with. Karlgash is still finding her way toward God, but she’s already discovered something true: we were designed to live in alignment with God’s ways. The Bible explains God has set guidelines for us to live our best lives in His way.

Scripture says God wants us to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with Him. Not a list of religious rituals, but a way of moving through everyday life that includes how we treat drivers on a busy street.

Here’s what makes living God’s way possible. The Bible book of Galatians tells us that when we surrender our lives to Jesus, God's Spirit comes to live within us to guide us. Scripture says, "Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit's guidance in every part of our lives."

Every part—the big decisions and the small ones. Karlgash discovered that living God's way and feeling good about yourself aren't separate things. They move together. You can help people like Karlgash in Kazakhstan hear biblical teaching in their own language and discover the God who wants so much more for our lives. Give a gift today at guidelines.org.
