Where Is God When Life Isn’t Fair?

When life feels unfair, it’s easy to wonder if God sees what’s happening. Discover what Scripture says about injustice, integrity, and God’s never-failing justice.

Bonnie Sala: What do you hold on to when the system meant to serve you doesn't? I'm Bonnie Sala with Reset.

A man saves for months to pay a fee he’s been told is required to run his small business. When he goes to pay the fee, the amount has changed. Someone suggests that with a little extra, things could move faster. He knows what that means. If he refuses, he may wait for months. If he agrees, he joins a system he knows is wrong.

For many people, injustice is something you navigate at work, in offices, and in decisions that affect your family’s future. So where is God in that? The Bible speaks to people who lived under corrupt leaders and unfair systems. And it says something clear: God is not neutral about injustice. The Bible book of Isaiah calls God a God of justice. Justice is part of who God is.

Jesus also challenged those who misused power and gave a promise to those pushed aside. He told a story about a widow who kept asking for justice from a judge who didn’t care. Then Jesus said, “So don’t you think God will surely give justice to His chosen people who cry out to Him day and night? I tell you, He will grant justice to them quickly.”

That means your situation isn't invisible to God. He sees what's happening even when no one else seems to. And it means these wrongs will not have the final word. God’s justice may feel delayed, but it is never absent. In the meantime, we live in that tension, seeking what is right where we can and trusting that God sees more than we do.
