The Bible doesn't describe love as a constant feeling. Scripture describes love as humility, patience, and endurance. It teaches things like, "make allowance for each other’s faults and forgive anyone who offends you." That sounds simple, but it’s not easy.

Distance often begins to close when one person softens, not to win or prove a point, but simply to reconnect. That may look like saying, "I miss us," or admitting, "I've been defensive." What does reaching out look like in your relationship? You can start to bridge the gap by setting aside a few quiet minutes to truly listen, without interrupting or correcting.

Marriage isn’t sustained by romance alone. It is sustained by daily acts of service, honest repentance, and steady kindness over time. Jesus laid down his rights to love us, and when we follow Jesus, we learn to lay down small rights for one another.
