Reset

Bonnie Sala: Are you praying for answers? Don't miss the greater thing God wants to give. I'm Bonnie Sala with Reset. Sarah was moving into a new season in her life, but she literally didn't know where she'd live or what she'd do next. A longtime follower of Jesus, Sarah told her sister, "I am really praying that God shows up and provides."

Her sister laughed. Then she said this: "Or maybe pray that your trust in God expands. It's always in God's character to provide. We don't have to pray for him to do what is already in his character. But I find that in times of change," her sister continued, "God is always deepening our trust in him."

It is in God's character to provide for us. The Bible says that God will supply everything that his followers need. But beyond meeting our needs, the God of the Bible is the God that takes us deeper, to give us himself.

Ravi is also praying for a big need in his life. He hasn't had full employment for several years. Like Sarah, Ravi also follows Jesus. Right now he's waiting, watching, and listening for God. Every day he gets up before the sun to meet with God and read scripture. Ravi says, "And God shows up." The Bible says those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you.

Are you praying for answers? God meets needs, but his bigger plan is to deepen your trust in him and your relationship with him. As one theologian expressed it, "that they should learn to love him in the wilderness and that they should always look back upon the time in the desert as the idyllic time of their life with him alone."
