Throughout history, God has, and always will preserve a remnant of His people. This is true for both Israel, in a specific way, and for the church in general. Those who hold to the Word of God and trust in the salvation of Jesus Christ will always endure.

We never know how much time we have left on earth. But, if we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior, His salvation is eternal. This is Good News because it means that Jesus is the answer to all of our fears and insecurities about what the future holds for us.

The remnant, or those who remain true to the Lord, will return in the Second Coming. The Lord’s people can look forward to new heavens and a new earth, where salvation lasts forever.

The word “remnant” means residue, or that which is left after a separation. Isaiah is using the word remnant when speaking of the Israelites who survive captivity, and who will return to their land, as promised. God also wants us to return whenever we stray away from Him.

Jesus went to the cross for you and me because we are valuable to Him. It’s truly mind boggling that He loved us that much. Without praise, without conditions, and because He was God, Jesus endured the shame for us.
