Abraham of the Old Testament believed God, and it was declared to him that he was righteous. This tells us that we are justified by faith, and not by our performance. And, just like Abraham, God views all those who put their faith in Christ, as though they had never sinned.

Believers experience the Holy Spirit by faith, and not by following the works of the law. For having received the Holy Spirit, we are no longer in the flesh. But, if we continue in our former conduct, our Christian experience will be in vain.

In the believer’s experience, the truth of the Gospel saves us from our sins just by believing in Christ. And, at that moment of conversion, we are given a new heart, and a new mind. But, our minds still need to be renewed daily in the truth and knowledge of God.

If we can enter into heaven just by being good, then Jesus wasted His life’s mission of going to the cross. It’s the new us that needs to stand up, crucified with Christ, living as the new real us!

The Apostle Paul tells us that we are a people who live in the flesh, but we who live by faith in Christ, who loved us and gave Himself for us, are no longer a slave to sin, and death no longer has dominion over us.

The truth about Christianity gives us the opportunity to correct those bound by the words of the law. We are justified through God’s grace by putting our faith in Jesus Christ alone. Trusting in our good works will not save us.

The truth about Christianity exposes man’s weakness towards the pressure to conform. Living in the freedom of Christ means we can lovingly confront those who are carried away by conformity, and help those who have returned to the bondage of legalism.

God, Himself, fulfilled the law. And, when we put our faith in Him, and exclude all our human efforts, we have salvation, and we have the freedom that only Christ can give. Legalists fail to understand this, and teach the traditions of men, rather than the truth of God.
