He Who! - 2C

November 11, 2019

God is not intimidated by man-made idols. They are designed to deceive people. Statues made of marble or wood cannot love you, or save you. But, God alone is the one who is faithful in that He loves us so much that He sent His Son to die on the cross for our sins, so that we can have eternal life.

Daze Of Deception
Jesus warned that deception would grow worse as we draw nearer to the end times, saying, “Take heed that no one deceives you” (Matthew 24:4). Distinguishing truth from error has become increasingly challenging—even in the church. We live in a time when falsehoods assault us from every direction. Packaged with just enough truth to make them appear trustworthy, these counterfeits have grown more and more difficult to detect and avoid. Living in the Daze of Deception explores the many ways error is masquerading as truth—and you’ll learn how you can discern the difference.

There is a movement today to deny Israel its history, even at the temple mount. But, Israel doesn’t belong to the Jewish people. The Bible tells us that Israel belongs to God. And, He is the one who moves nations and leaders, not movements stirred up by the enemy.

God’s plan for the world is coming to pass. His will is being done on the earth, including judgement for the enemies of Israel. God is going to deal with every leader of every nation, and how they dealt with the people of Israel and their land.

God’s nature never changes. Over and over again in His Word, He urges us to trust Him. And, He who keeps His promises to Israel, will keep His promises to us. If He says He will save Israel, He will save those of us who believe He died and rose again.

God alone is sovereign. He is not moved by any nations, or rulers, and Isaiah’s prophecy regarding King Cyrus confirms this. Isaiah foretold of King Cyrus as the future King of Persia 150 years before His birth. And, when King Cyrus heard that He was spoken of in the Bible, he decides not to invade Israel.

We can reflect upon the grandeur of God for all eternity, and His splendor is for all to see. He counts the stars and names them. He hangs the earth where there was nothing, and binds up the waters in thick clouds and directs the rain. Yet, even with all the wonders He has created, He knows our name, and wants to have a relationship with us.

So today, on day 2 of Isaiah Chapter 40, Pastor Jack tells us that the grandeur of God can also be seen in His personality. He is holy and full of light. In Him there is no darkness, and His love is unconditional. But, many resist His love and turn their backs on having a relationship with Him.

So today, on day one of Isaiah Chapter 40, Pastor Jack continues in this chapter by telling us how the grandeur of God is also seen in the way He strengthens those who are afraid. He will one day rule from Jerusalem with a strong hand, but will gently lead those who are young and gather in His arms those who are weak.

The Grandeur of God can be seen in what He has already shown us in nature and in His creation. God perfectly balances our world and our universe. He controls everything, and whatever we’re going through, He will come through for us.

We’ll see the grandeur of God in His faithfulness. Isaiah is now speaking to not just Judah, but to all the world. That we are to comfort Jerusalem, and not turn our backs on the nation of Israel. We can count on God’s justice to be perfectly fair and right, knowing that His Word for Israel and for us, stands forever.

When we pray, as Hezekiah did, we are to pray believing, and thankfully expect God to answer. But, what most of us forget, is to also pray for God’s will to be done. Hezekiah got his prayer answered, but he forgot about God with tragic results.
