God's Priceless Cargo - 1A

February 1, 2019

We are all travelers, and we will all have trouble and difficulties along the way. But, God has a reason for our journey. His desire is for His truth is to be worked out in our lives. We are precious to Him, and He is more concerned for us, as messengers of the Gospel, than the message itself.

Daze Of Deception
Jesus warned that deception would grow worse as we draw nearer to the end times, saying, “Take heed that no one deceives you” (Matthew 24:4). Distinguishing truth from error has become increasingly challenging—even in the church. We live in a time when falsehoods assault us from every direction. Packaged with just enough truth to make them appear trustworthy, these counterfeits have grown more and more difficult to detect and avoid. Living in the Daze of Deception explores the many ways error is masquerading as truth—and you’ll learn how you can discern the difference.

What is most interesting about Paul’s defense, is that King Agrippa, wanted to set him free. He didn’t find enough fault in him worthy of death. But, Paul had already made the appeal to be tried in Rome. God had planned for him to go to Rome, and going in chains was the only way to do it.

On today’s program, Pastor Jack encourages us to ask ourselves if we really are a Christian, and has believing in Jesus Christ really changed us. Like Paul, we need to give an answer for our faith in Christ. Jesus taught by example, not just by talking about it. We must be convinced ourselves, that what the scriptures say is true, and what Jesus did for us was real.

Knowing God builds within us an assurance for living life. Paul’s power to share came from knowing God. Paul’s confidence was from the Word of God, and Paul’s peace came from being in the will of God. Paul knew who and what he believed in, and that was how he was able to give his defense.

Never think for a moment that you can sin beyond God’s ability to save you. And, even though Paul’s Jewish brethren were wanting to kill him, his heart was breaking for them. Paul knew that their rejection of Jesus Christ meant that they were eternally lost in their sins.

Most of the crowd listening to Paul’s defense of the Gospel, were against the very message that they had always hoped for. And, that was the coming of the messiah, spoken of by the Old Testament Prophets. Their hearts refused to believe that their Messiah had come to save them, just like their forefathers did with Moses in the wilderness.

While in front of King Herod, along with thousands of people, including his Jewish brethren, Paul begins his defense. And, this one little man named Paul, had a religious background of the highest achievement. But, when he heard the voice of Jesus calling him, everything changed in his life.

When Paul appealed his case to Caesar in Rome, it was ordained by God. Paul made a stand for the truth, and whether it looked good or bad, God was in it. In fact, God is in all that we experience in life. And, He gives us a future founded in hope that our lives are anchored in his Son, Jesus Christ, safe and secure in our salvation.

Paul’s heart was anchored to the truth of Jesus Christ, and the Word of God, which was, at that time, the Old Testament. Many lies were spoken of him, but Paul knew his calling, and was confident that God was in control, and that he was in the right place, at the right time.

The waves we wrestle against are there to draw us closer to God. It’s through trials that the Lord establishes His work. And, it’s through hardships that our soul, which is our mind and emotions, will begin to follow the lead of the Holy Spirit. And, with Jesus as our Anchor, we have undeniable truth on our side.

Life is inconvenient. Whether we’re too late, or too early for something, we’re always looking for a way out, or when it’s more convenient. We’ll even wait to make a decision for Christ, by not responding when we had the chance. But, today is the day for salvation, and later may be too late.
