Give Them Jesus - 1C

January 30, 2018

On today’s program, Pastor Jack tells us that whatever our problem or situation is, we are to give it to God. God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness. Paul persevered, in public, through sickness and disease, to speak about how we are to receive others in their trials and pain.

Daze Of Deception
Jesus warned that deception would grow worse as we draw nearer to the end times, saying, “Take heed that no one deceives you” (Matthew 24:4). Distinguishing truth from error has become increasingly challenging—even in the church. We live in a time when falsehoods assault us from every direction. Packaged with just enough truth to make them appear trustworthy, these counterfeits have grown more and more difficult to detect and avoid. Living in the Daze of Deception explores the many ways error is masquerading as truth—and you’ll learn how you can discern the difference.

Our life is to make a difference, with Jesus as our example. We are not to be overthrown by legalism, but give them Jesus, and nothing else. We are also to be willing to correct, in love, those who preach a works-based Gospel.

Paul urges the believer to obey God’s Word. He goes on to say that life events will reveal who we really are, and how our personal witness matters. God will give us strength even in our weakest moments, and when we need His power the most.

God has guaranteed our inheritance. The moment we were born again, we went from being slaves to the law, to being sons of God through Christ. And, because Christ secured our salvation, we are heirs of God, and placed in God’s family.

The Christian life is marked by joy.  God redeemed us, who were held captive by the law, and the rules of this world. God was just in time when He sent His Son Jesus, who sets us free, and gives us new life in Him.

We, as human beings, cannot be trusted to properly evaluate ourselves before God's standards. We have a tendency to justify our own position, and our actions.  God declared us “just” based on what Christ did on the cross.

The law cannot do what a promise can do. God always fulfills His promises, while the law cannot encourage us, embrace us, assist us, save us, or give us hope.
January 18, 2018
The law is not against the promises of God, but points us towards the Gospel. The law was given by God to unveil, unmask, and remove the charade of our self-righteousness, and to prepare us to meet Christ.
January 17, 2018
The law is not greater than the promises of God. The law was added to intensify a person’s sinfulness, while shining a light on God’s holiness. We are all confined under our sin and guilt, so that the promises of God can be given to those who believe.
