Diagnosis: Hypocrisy! - B

Today, Pastor Jack tells us that it’s very easy to fall into hypocrisy. Where the Lord is not center stage in our lives. As Christ followers, we need to stay close to Him, and keep Him first in our lives. Our relationship with the Lord is to stay honest and real even in the face of all the attractions, and distractions the world can throw at us.

Hypocrisy blinds us to what’s really important. It can’t take its eyes off tradition. Jesus tells the Pharisees, and the religious lawyers how they focus on their outward appearance while on the inside they are full of wickedness and greed.

A bad eye will twist the light into darkness. When our hearts are tender, and our eyes are full of light, we’re very aware of sinful misconduct or wrongdoing. But, when the heart grows dull and indifferent, we become critical and unloving towards God, and those around us.

Jesus takes a physical attribute and connects it to a spiritual reality. He tells us how the lamp of the body is the eye, and meant to be useful. When you’re in the light, you can see everything. And, when your eye is good, your whole body is full of light.

Unbelief refuses the evidence of God’s existence, and the teachings of Jesus. Even today, we have even more evidence, more archeological proof, and more prophetic fulfillment, but many will still maintain in their hearts that there is no God.

Pastor Jack tells us that signs, wonders, and miracles are indicators. Like a signpost that points the way. But, unbelief will misguide us. After hearing Jesus, and His teachings it should have been reasonable to put their trust in Him, but they did not.

We have to choose a side. As humans, we have the responsibility of choice. Are we for God, and believe in His awesome power? Or, are we against Him, having been deceived by the powers of Satan. There is no middle ground.

We have not yet begun to see the levels and powers of deception that is coming to this world. We can expect great signs and wonders from the occult, at anytime and anywhere. It’s why we need to have the Bible in our hands, and in our hearts like never before.

The Christian prays with expectation. Trusting in God that when we ask for bread, He will not give us a stone. Still, there are things God wants us to have that we will never have if we do not ask.

Prayer is not just about ourselves. As Christians, we also intercede for others. Prayers for those we love, like, or cannot stand, we call out to God with both audacity and urgency, indifferent of time, or how long it takes.

When we pray for forgiveness, we walk in the beautiful power of Christ’s forgiveness, moment by moment. And, because Jesus has forgiven us, we can forgive ourselves, bringing us to a place of victory and rest.
