Daze Of Deception
Jesus warned that deception would grow worse as we draw nearer to the end times, saying, “Take heed that no one deceives you” (Matthew 24:4). Distinguishing truth from error has become increasingly challenging—even in the church. We live in a time when falsehoods assault us from every direction. Packaged with just enough truth to make them appear trustworthy, these counterfeits have grown more and more difficult to detect and avoid. Living in the Daze of Deception explores the many ways error is masquerading as truth—and you’ll learn how you can discern the difference.

Paul discovers that the Jewish believers there were still bound in religious law, legalism and confusion. They believed in Christ, but were lost in a performance based relationship with Him. So, Paul shares how trying to keep the law, is our flesh at war with our spirit. It’s only by faith and through God’s grace can we be forgiven, and have fellowship with Him.

Paul knew exactly what he was doing and how much he still had to suffer for the sake of Christ, and for the Gospel. And, how do we know when God’s hand is on us, and our situation? We can know when we look back and see all that Christ has already done for us. And, that we desire to be in His presence still.

The easy path is often not God’s path. Doing the right thing can be painful. It may go against reason, or your friends may even abandon you. But, there is a purpose in fulfilling God’s will. Paul had peace, even knowing the outcome, he rested in the fact that the course he was on was the right one.

The debated views concerning Paul were if the disciples were wrong for trying to stop him, or was Paul wrong for not listening to the disciples? All of Paul’s reasons were Godly reasons to go. He was bound by the Spirit to go, and he had counted the cost. And, Paul had the assurance that his ministry was foretold by the Words of Jesus, while the disciples simply were afraid for him to go.

Paul offers his warning with a word of guidance. He tells us to support the weak, and that it is more blessed to give than to receive. This can only come from having a personal relationship with Christ. And, in turn, the more God will bless us for our wise investment into other people’s lives.

Like Paul, we need to grow and mature in the things of God, and have a servant’s heart and attitude in whatever position the Lord Jesus has us in. Paul also encourages the leaders there, by leaving them in the comfort and security of Christ, and in the grace found in His Word.

Pastor Jack shares the dangers that can ruin a church. Carelessness will leave us sleeping at the wheel. Shallowness leaves us unbalanced in prayer and in the Word. Covetousness will have us consumed by wanting more and more, while laziness renders us useless. And, finally, selfishness keeps us from sharing Christ to those around us.

Today, Pastor Jack tells us how important the church is to God. The church holds great value to Him because it has His name on it. And, it’s important to Christ, the Son, because His blood is over it. And, it’s also important to the Holy Spirit because He lives inside it. So, we need to ask ourselves, how important is God’s church to us?

Like Paul, our mission is for the Gospel, and for the church. This requires a private life of daily Bible study, and a quiet time of worship and devotion. That way our conscience is clear that we’ve done all we can to respond to God’s calling on our lives.
December 11, 2018
We need to see the church, as Christ sees the church. And, we need to see the world as Christ sees it. What does that mean? It means we take advantage of every opportunity to share the Gospel, in love and with the humility of Christ.
