A Christian Welcome - A

August 22, 2018

A disciple named Ananias was not an apostle like Peter, John, or Philip, but God sent him to welcome Paul, and to heal his sight, even though Ananias heard about Paul’s angry and violent treatment of the church in Jerusalem. God can, and does use some of the most random and obscure believers to do some of His mightiest deeds.

Daze Of Deception
Jesus warned that deception would grow worse as we draw nearer to the end times, saying, “Take heed that no one deceives you” (Matthew 24:4). Distinguishing truth from error has become increasingly challenging—even in the church. We live in a time when falsehoods assault us from every direction. Packaged with just enough truth to make them appear trustworthy, these counterfeits have grown more and more difficult to detect and avoid. Living in the Daze of Deception explores the many ways error is masquerading as truth—and you’ll learn how you can discern the difference.

Paul was a man running from God. He was also a man who was convicted by God, and now we see Paul as a man broken by God. And, as Paul opens his eyes after the flash of light, he sees nothing. So, having been blinded, he is led to Damascus by his companions, where he is shut off from the world, and eats and drinks nothing for three days.

Paul’s anger had eventually turned to violence. So, as Paul is on his way to Damascus, Jesus stops him with a great flash of light. And, as Paul fell to the ground Jesus asks him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” But, before Paul responds, he has a question of his own to ask, in his shock and surprise.

The miraculous conversion of a ‘good’ man, Saul of Tarsus to a born-again man, Paul, the Apostle, is one of the high points of New Testament events. The conversion of Paul seemed highly unlikely, but it’s greatly confirmed when he takes the Gospel of Christ into other nations of the world.
