Michael Freund: The Hidden Jews the Inquisition Couldn't Erase and the Lost Tribes God Is Bringing Home
Parents once warned their children never to count stars at night. It was not superstition. It was a survival code, passed down for centuries by families hiding their Jewish faith from the Spanish Inquisition.
In this conversation, Michael Freund, chairman of Shavei Israel, tells the story of the Bnei Anousim, the descendants of Spain's and Portugal's forcibly converted Jews, and of the Bnei Menashe, whose letter from northeast India reached Prime Minister Netanyahu's office in 1997. He explains how the Inquisition pursued secret Jews to Peru, Colombia and Goa, what a 2008 genetic study found in Spain and Portugal, and why he sees the words of the prophets Obadiah and Ezekiel coming to life. We're bringing this conversation back because it is more relevant than ever.
