Guest (Female): It's really hard not to worry.
Guest (Male): He suffered from encopresis.
Guest (Female): Miserable disease from hell.
Guest (Male): Bullying at school.
Guest (Female): He didn't have very many friends. Every marriage needs a third party. His name is Jesus.
Guest (Male): Pride is not great for a marriage at all. Lord, can you work this situation out?
Guest (Female): We went to five doctors. I'm at the end of myself.
Guest (Male): I broke this bone right here, all the bones around my eye. I thought I was going to die.
Guest (Female): Lord, this is my baby. Show me, what do we need to do?
We take Holy Communion together. A lot of people like to eat and have dinner together. It's not really something we can do. We call them drive-by eaters. They just go, nibble, and then they're out the door again. But Holy Communion, we come together and we do it together.
Coming together in the way that you correct your kids, I think is really important. The disciplinary aspect of raising the babies is probably something a lot of parents fight about. It's definitely a conversation that needs to happen. This is how we're going to do it. That way the parents are on the same page and they're not arguing about it. That way the wife can honor the husband.
Our marriage got stronger and continued to grow and be more fulfilling for me when I actually started honoring Kevin in his decisions that he was making with the kids. Whereas before, I was like, this is the way you need to do this, or you were wrong. I would do it in front of the kids and put him down in front of the kids. I've learned to not do that. It's much more fulfilling and much more fruitful. Have the conversation beforehand and honor your husband. I'm working on it still.
Guest (Male): If you can't be patient with your three-year-old, there's no condemnation. He has the patience for you to give to him. Even when I feel like losing it, He leads me by still waters and He's my patience for the babies.
But you have to make space for that. You have to involve the Lord. Just make space for grace. Take a quick second. Father, I thank You that You are my patience. You are patient with my baby through me. I can't do it.
When you lay it down, His strength is made perfect in that area. Everything you need, He has and He's constantly supplying that to you. Everything kind of goes back to trust, putting on the armor of God and not just picking and choosing what that looks like. When you go through certain situations, like the storms and the fires, and you come out on top of it, that builds your faith.
Most people probably don't know what this is. It's actually pretty rare. He suffered from encopresis. There was bullying at school because it's a gut issue and there's just not a lot of information out there. There's only a couple of specialists in it.
Guest (Female): It's a bowel disorder where you can't go to the bathroom. He was in pull-ups his whole life, even in second grade. That's why the kids would bully him. He didn't have very many friends.
Guest (Male): When you battle something for so long, trust me, it's not like we're just bystanders to all this. We're doing Holy Communion throughout this whole time. She's doing all kinds of research.
Guest (Female): We went to five doctors.
Guest (Male): There are a lot of people that are going through this silently because they don't have a lot of data on this. There's not even any data to support how many people are actually truly going through something like this. What was interesting is the blog she went to, the people that were going through this.
All the testimonies were that this is what the doctor's going to do. They're going to give you all these laxatives. They work short-term, but they have long-term negative effects. We tried all those things.
Guest (Female): It was really sad in the blogs. The moms would open up about how they just got a divorce because the parents couldn't get on the same page. The dad wants to discipline the kid and then the mom has a more gentle heart. I'm at the end of myself. I've done all I can do. We've done all we can do.
It's just a miserable, miserable disease from hell. I've bound it up, I've rebuked it, I've declared over him and nothing's happening.
Guest (Male): One day in Cass's prayer time, I think this was part of her winding down. She had more time to commit as a mom and a wife.
Guest (Female): Lord, this is my baby. It's Your baby. Show me, what is it? What do we need to do? He showed me that he was condemning himself for the disease. I immediately felt like this is what's hindering the healing of God flowing, because he thinks he deserves this disease.
That scripture came back up. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. We decided that we would just declare over him every day. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
After six years, literally within a week, he went to the bathroom. No more sickness, no more disease. It wasn't a progression thing. It was literally overnight. The way the disease works is when kids are healed of it, if they do ever get healed of it, it takes years for your organs to go back to the right size.
Guest (Male): Muscles aren't working correctly, so they're not strong anymore.
Guest (Female): They have to have surgery. In that healing process, it just happens over and over and over again. Now they're backed up again and none of that happened to him. It was insane. The grace of God is so powerful. Even after six years, the Lord is faithful to His promises. He wants your babies healthy. He wants us healthy.
Guest (Male): I was riding my bike and I was trying to go to the stop sign all the way over there. As I do that, I go really, really, really fast. That's the fastest I've ever gone before. I looked at my feet.
Guest (Male): He was so impressed by his foot speed, his pedal speed, that he looked down for a second.
Guest (Male): I accidentally turned and I ran into a parked car. I just crashed into the car. I flipped over the handlebars and my nose hit the handlebar, then the rest of my face hit the car.
Guest (Male): He can't even talk and there's blood everywhere. Paxton, he's the more dramatic of the two. I learned a lot about him that day. I learned that he's a lot like his mom. He hyperventilated. He legit had a panic attack.
Guest (Male): He asked if I was going to survive. He thought I was going to die and he was crying.
Guest (Male): My proudest moment was he looked at him, face just covered in blood. He said, "It's okay, little buddy. It's just a little blood." In my head I'm like, okay, big brother's in action.
Right here there's one layer and there's two layers behind it. I broke all those layers of bones. I broke this bone right here, all the bones around my eye. I couldn't really see well because this eye was closed shut and I could only see like this. It was all swollen up. I didn't even look like myself because of the swelling.
Guest (Male): We had no control of this situation. We're not doctors. We can't heal them out of our own ability. We just started praying in the Spirit. He was in a lot of pain when I was out there. She came in to relieve me and I went to go get some towels.
Guest (Female): He waited for Paxton to leave and then he goes, "It hurts so bad, mom. It hurts." She said, "Well, baby, let's just pray about it." So they prayed in the Spirit.
Guest (Male): My mom prayed and I just said, "Okay, in the name of Jesus, You've already taken this pain on the cross for us right now. You've already taken it."
Guest (Male): After the prayer, my face wasn't really hurting at all. From that point forward, he was never in any pain. It was amazing to see the Lord work like that.
I thought that we were going to be out there for a while and they were just walking in nonchalantly. I'm like, what the heck? Do we call an ambulance? Do we go to the doctor? What do we do? We go to Urgent Care first and they're like, "This is beyond us." Why are y'all at Urgent Care? You need to go to the ER now.
We're at the hospital. When you break your nose like he did, it's supposed to be one of the most excruciating pains. The nurse doesn't believe that he's not in any pain even though he's telling her that he's not in pain. I said, "He's not a liar. He wouldn't lie about that." We were seeing healing in real-time.
Guest (Female): Like swelling going down. I even chronicled it. I took pictures throughout. Then we went to Children's Medical Center. They were dumbfounded. Professionals were befuddled. He didn't take any pain medicine. They kept saying the pain's going to come and we're like, "No, it's not in Jesus' name."
They kept saying the swelling was going to get worse and we're like, "The swelling is getting a lot better in real-time."
Guest (Male): The swelling started going down and now I look like myself because the swelling is down.
Guest (Female): The Lord's protection was in a different way than I had thought. He protected him from all the pain.
Guest (Male): If you expect something to go a certain kind of way and it doesn't meet the mark because you've envisioned it to be that way, then you can inherently be disappointed. When I had a more childlike faith of just having a God-like hope, you have a hope for good and the outcome's going to be good, but you're not necessarily pigeonholed into what that journey looks like.
Outcomes will be turned around for our favor. The only way He's going to get the glory is if He turns around situations for our good. That's a promise that we can stand on. That has been very impactful for me and I think it's very much blessed our marriage.
Guest (Female): Involve Jesus. Every marriage needs a third party. His name is Jesus. Don't focus on the faults of your spouse. Focus on Jesus and how much He loves you and how much He's for you.
Guest (Male): Realistically, no one's perfect and we're all fallible. Part of that worldly message of divorce and it's okay not to get married and all those things is that we expect something out of someone. Everything has become very transactional.
I do this for you, you do this for me. If that's not a fair, equitable exchange, then I'm not at fault in being upset or thinking that there's grass greener on the other side. Love your spouse like Christ loves the church. That's pretty big love.
Just the humility to humble yourself. Pride is not great for a marriage at all. Sometimes when I see her a certain way that's negative, usually those are probably from the enemy as well. I look back and think about, do I always have it together? Or am I fallible just like her? I have strengths, she has weaknesses, and vice-versa. That's where we're able to come and meet each other.
I don't remember any situation where the Lord decided to bless me based on how great I was. If that's the case, I never would have got blessed in the first place. The Lord doesn't expect us to come all well-prepared and buttoned up and clean before we can pray to Him.
But I think a lot of people have this impression that you have to. I think that's why a lot of people are put off by church, because they think that they have to be perfect going in. The Word doesn't say that at all. Our Lord is the one that cleanses you. He congregated around with people that were destitute and everything else. Those people didn't have it together. But they're in a perfect place for a blessing.
Guest (Female): Trust Him. Trust in His love for you. He's got you and He's not condemning you. He loves you.
Guest (Male): In my darkest, because there are times when I'm like, what's up with this, look to the Lord. You don't have to solve the problem. Just say, "Hey, Lord, can you work this situation out?"
Guest (Female): It's really hard not to worry about your babies, about this, about your finances, about that. But when we worry, it constrains the power of God. It says cast all your cares and anxieties on Him, for He cares for you.
First know that He cares for you. His hands are so much bigger to take care of all the things that need to be taken care of. So just get out of His way and let Him lead you. The grace of God will take you places that you've never even thought of and they're way better than you could ever think of. Put Him in the center of everything and it's a beautiful journey.
