The Father and the Son
What is the nature and relationship between the first and second persons of the Trinity?
Guest (Male): Open the Bible with Colin Smith.
Colin Smith: When did God become Father? The answer is he has always been Father. He is the everlasting Father and his nature never changes. When did Christ become the Son? The answer is that he has always been the Son. He is the eternal Son and his nature never changes.
The Father was never without the Son, and the Son was never without the Father. God did not gain a son when Jesus was born into the world; God sent his Son, who was already at the Father’s side.
Before he took our flesh, God the Son shared the Father’s glory, the Father’s life, the Father’s work, and the Father’s love. And the Son of God came so that you could know his Father as your Father.
Guest (Male): Is there someone in your life who needs to know the God of the Bible and might be open to take a journey through the Bible with you? Invite them to openthebible.org.
