Sorry Doesn’t Cut It
Feeling sorry isn’t enough to atone for sin. What is needed is a payment that only Christ can provide.

Colin Smith: Once when I was playing in a soccer match at college, the team we were playing made a breakthrough on goal. I was the last defender, and in a desperate lunge, I managed to clear the ball from the goal line. Unfortunately, it sailed towards the college president’s study and smashed his window.
Of course, I said I was sorry and the president was remarkably kind, but he did require that I replace the window and clean up the mess. That’s what it took to make it right. Now, what will it take to right our wrongs against God? Well, some people think it all boils down to being sorry. But being sorry isn’t enough.
Something must be done to put what’s wrong right. And the Bible calls that an atonement. And the atonement has been made by our Lord Jesus Christ.
