Satan’s Plays
The devil uses many traps to ensnare people, but one of his greatest traps is the temptation to distrust and disbelieve God’s Word.
Colin Smith: A good coach studies an opponent's plays and plans a good defense. Satan used his best plays in the Garden of Eden, and when you know them, you'll be able to defend against them.
God had given one simple command, and Satan's first play was to question it: "Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?" By questioning God's words, Satan made it easier for Adam and Eve to disobey God's command.
Now, when Satan tempts you to sin, he'll try and lower your defenses by suggesting that maybe a sin that you want to commit isn't really forbidden by God after all. Bad choices often begin when a person says, "I'm not so sure that the Bible is really that clear on this. Did God really say?"
