No Condemnation
Elijah's prayer brought the fire of God onto the sacrifice and not on the people. This points to the cross where God's judgment was poured out on Jesus, who became the ultimate sacrifice for us.
Guest (Male): Open the Bible with Colin Smith.
Colin Smith: When Elijah prayed, the fire of God fell on the sacrifice and not on the people. That points us to the cross of Jesus where God's judgment was poured out, not on the soldiers who crucified Jesus, or on the crowds who mocked him, but on Jesus himself who became the sacrifice for us.
Try and take in this amazing truth. Jesus absorbed the judgment that was due to sinners. It fell on him so that it would not fall on us. And that's why there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Notice the key phrase: "in Christ Jesus." It's only in Jesus that the condemnation is removed, and the way to be in Jesus is by faith in the Son of God who loved you and gave himself for you.
