Broken Hearts

Your difficulties break your heart, and they cause you to cry out to God. It is good to know that the tears of God's people are precious to Him.

Colin Smith: God's work often advances through tears, and the Book of Lamentations is full of them. A heart that cares will break over squandered opportunities, sin in the church, souls that are lost, the suffering of those who are persecuted, and the hardness of an unbelieving world. These are good tears because they're the tears of a person who cares.

Perhaps you've thrown yourself into some venture for Christ expecting His blessing, but instead you've faced overwhelming difficulties. It breaks your heart, and it causes you to cry out to God. David once asked the Lord to collect his tears in a bottle.

That's a beautiful picture. It reminds us that the tears of God's people are precious to Him because they're the tears of people who care. Are you open to discovering what the Bible says about God? Then come to openthebible.org.
