If We Bury the Bible
The Scriptures need to be in our hands and in our hearts continuously. If they aren’t, it doesn’t take long for us to fall off the path.
Guest (Male): Open the Bible with Colin Smith.
Colin Smith: One day Hilkiah the priest found a dusty old book that would change the direction of the nation. He found the book of the law in the house of the Lord, and the book was almost certainly a copy of Deuteronomy.
How could God's word possibly have been lost in, of all places, the temple? Well, it's not difficult to imagine why the priests ignored the Bible. If they had preached from the Scripture in the time of Manasseh, they would have found themselves on a collision course with the culture.
So they buried the Bible, and 50 years later a new generation arose that did not know God or his law. Now if you want to know God, the place to begin is to open the Bible. Opening God's word changed a nation in the days of Josiah, and opening God's word will change your life today.
