Purchased at a Precious Price
“For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:20
Matthew 26:28 says, “For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” The word “testament” is from the Greek word diatheke that means covenant.
Christ has purchased us with His blood. We have entered into a covenant with Him. The church is the bride; Jesus is the bridegroom. We are betrothed to Him in a covenant bought with His blood.
Samuel J. Stone wrote these powerful words in a hymn we sing in our church called The Church’s One Foundation:
From heaven He came and sought her to be His holy bride;
With His own blood He bought her, and for her life He died.
· Let this powerful truth sink deep into your heart today.
· Meditate on what it meant that Jesus came and sought you, then bought you with His blood.
