Chapter Two defines for us, the day of the Lord. Now God is good, he is faithful. And his faithfulness is seen in covenantal relationship. I've said, Never overestimate the importance of having a covenant with God, especially that new covenant. But as we look at chapter two of Zephaniah, we're going to see that the day the Lord is a course, not for believers, and not for Israel.

When one comes before the word of God, this one should come submissively not trying to figure out what God is saying. What he meant is this really something that's important to him we're not, we should simply listen to what the Word of God says. And then believe it and implement it into our life. That is how we learn the truth of God.

I'm sure you've heard about the term predestination. There is a major difference between biblical predestination and theological predestination. Now, in actuality, they should be one in the same but they're not. When we usually think about predestination, the name John Calvin comes to mind and what's known as Reformed theology. And what do they say about predestination? Well, what they teach cannot be found in the Scripture at all.

Peter is a different man, different that when he was when he served as a disciple during your shoeless earthly ministry, what changed him, he witness the resurrection, he spoke to the resurrected Lord. And he also was a recipient of that Holy Spirit. Therefore being filled and in dwelt with the Holy Spirit, knowing the resurrected Savior, and remembering now with a different mindset, something that he had witness, all of these things caused him to be very different.

There's going to be a transition among the people of God. We have seen that the children of Israel has been victorious, they have defeated their enemies, they have taken possession of that land, they have distributed the land. And now we're going to see that the tribes are going to go to their respective parcel of land that which they have inherited. And that means for two and a half tribes. They're going to the eastern side of the Jordan River.

Are you sensitive to God's timing? If you're not on God's timetable, you're not going to be led by the Spirit. You are not going to be a recipient of that anointing of His Spirit. And you are not going to be able to serve God even though you may desire to. If you're not following his timing, you are living in the flesh. Take out your Bible and look with me to Zephaniah chapter one. And now we're ready for that 12 verse.

Names are important in the Scripture. And this prophet that we're going to begin to study now. Zephaniah, his name means hidden of the Lord. Now, there's two ways to understand this. There are things there are truths that God hides from the world. We know that Messiah spoke in parables, that will be those that see but don't perceive those who hear but don't understand. But there's a second way to understand his name.
