The Way to a Blessed Life Part 1

February 28, 2020

While many in our world are running towards evil, the believer in Christ should be doing just the opposite… running away from it.  And also running to the things that please God.  So what do you run to, more often than not?  Keep that question in mind, and join us for a study in Psalm one.  Today on Light on the Hill pastor James Kaddis will have a look at the first three Psalms, and the first shows us how to have a blessed and fruitful life.

We're in the early stages of a new study in the Psalms.  As he normally likes to do at the beginning of a new series, pastor James Kaddis will begin with an overview or introduction.  It’ll serve to help us not only see where we’re going in the weeks ahead, but give us a greater appreciation for this marvelous book of Hebrew poetry.

Today we’ll be concluding our series in Galatians.  I probably don’t have to convince you that great emphasis is placed on outward appearances in our day and age.  But as we’ll see today on Light on the Hill, what really matters is the condition of our heart.  That’s what God is interested in and what we should be too.

We’re to be building one another up and doing good to each other.  Perhaps it’s taking a meal to someone who is under the weather, or letting someone go ahead of you in line at the Supermarket.  There are opportunities virtually every day to do good, and today on Light on the Hill pastor James Kaddis will encourage us to look for them and be a blessing to people.

Farmers know this principle all too well… what they sow is what they’re going to reap!  But it’s also true in our spiritual lives, as we’ll learn today through a study of Galatians chapter six.  It’s a good time for some healthy introspection.  Consider what you’re currently sowing into your life, and if some adjustments need to be made.

Today on Light on the Hill we learn that there is a time and a place for confrontation, and seeking to restore someone caught up in sin.  But there is a right way and a wrong way of doing this, so we need to get God’s perspective and help.  Pastor James Kaddis is in Galatians chapter six.

Pastor James Kaddis will offer up a couple of lists of behaviors today, one that describes a walk in the flesh, and the other a walk in the Spirit.  It’s an opportunity to look in the mirror to see how we’re doing, and also discover how God can lead us to victory.  Even after those occasional slip ups!  We’re finishing Galatians chapter five today.

Is there a particular sin in your life that you’re repeatedly engaging in, but want victory over?  Perhaps it’s anger, lust or worry!  We all face this struggle with the flesh at times, and God has the solution.  We’ll take a look at it today on Light on the Hill.  Pastor James Kaddis opens Galatians chapter five on this Tuesday, and points the way to victory over the flesh.

In recent studies we’ve established that in Christ we are free and no longer under bondage.  No doubt you’ve run across someone who has taken that the wrong way.  They’re involved in a sinful lifestyle, or satisfying the desires of the flesh, and they try to justify what they’re doing!  We’re about to see that there is a right way and a wrong way to use our freedom in Christ.   Join us in Galatians five.

If you’ve been with us in our study of the book of Galatians you’ll know the Galatian Christians we’re being drawn into legalism.  False teachers had come in and were perverting the gospel message. It’s an age-old problem that exists still today. One way we can avoid falling into legalism is to hold fast to the Word of God and the freedom we’ve been given in Jesus.  Pastor James Kaddis draws that out from Galatians chapter five.
