An Unholy Alliance II: A Global Discussion

October 21, 2026
00:00

On the next Leading The Way, listen in on a powerful conversation Dr. Youssef had with a prominent Australian leader about The Unholy Alliance!

Guest (Male): Thank you for making time in your day for leading the way with Dr. Michael Youssef. You can't not see the waves of extremism sweeping the world today. Radical Islamist and radical progressives normally diametrically opposed have now joined forces in a grand effort to dismantle Western Judeo-Christian civilization. Up next, listen in on a conversation that Dr. Youssef had while traveling recently to Australia where he sat down with John Anderson. John is a Christian leader who's spent decades in governmental leadership, ultimately serving in Australian Parliament. Their conversation shines a bright light on what has become an unholy alliance worldwide.

And most importantly, they'll help your family, your church, and your community know how best to biblically respond to the Islamist invasion. Listen carefully as we begin this life-changing Leading the Way.

John Anderson: Well, Michael, great to see you again. Thanks so much for joining us. We're going to be talking about the your latest book. I think you've written 57. I don't know how you do it. Uh you must be like Margaret Thatcher, sleep for about 3 or 4 hours a night.

Dr. Michael Youssef: Yeah, my wife says I never sleep.

John Anderson: Yeah, well. Anyway, this one's called An Unholy Alliance. And very provocatively, how progressivism brought about an Islamist invasion. How have progressives Cuz you see it everywhere,

Dr. Michael Youssef: Yeah.

John Anderson: aligned with people who loathe everything they stand for.

Dr. Michael Youssef: Yeah.

John Anderson: Part of it is fear.

Dr. Michael Youssef: And all they make common cause.

John Anderson: Yeah. Part of it is fear. Part of it is just sheer hatred to Western civilization.

Dr. Michael Youssef: Yeah.

John Anderson: It's just sheer hatred. And as you know, Karl Marx, you know, said you got to destroy uh and they have start this war between the proletariat and the

Dr. Michael Youssef: The bourgeoisie.

John Anderson: Bourgeoisies. And then when you have that war between the two of them and then the society collapses and they build on top of it. Islam thinks the same way. We collapse this Western civilization, we build our Sharia. They're two different world views totally opposed. But they think that once they got Western civilization destroyed, they'll fight it out. But we know who's going to win.

Dr. Michael Youssef: Can I ask you this very broad question?

John Anderson: Sure.

Dr. Michael Youssef: If I could put it this way, who does Allah love and who does the God of the Bible love?

John Anderson: Well, uh the interesting thing about Allah, the descriptions in the Quran particularly is that he is or he's the most cunning. Now, who do we know as the most cunning? It's the devil. And in many ways, some descriptions of Allah in the Quran matches Bible description of of Satan. And Allah loves himself. Jehovah loves his creation. He loves people. He loved people so much that his son came from heaven and died for them to redeem them. And that is why of the 99 descriptions of Allah in the Quran, not one of them, not one is love.

Because they say love makes you vulnerable. And far be it from Allah to be vulnerable. But the whole core of our Christian faith is that God became vulnerable and he became one of us. So he understands our pain and our suffering. And then to redeem us and pull us out of our own suffering into the very portals of heaven. I mean, that is the the very core of our Christian faith. That's what lifts us up every morning when we wake up, we realize that we are loved by God and we are valued by God that so much so that he calling us to come and and be adopted to be his children.

And so the two very stark contrast between the two.

Dr. Michael Youssef: It would it be fair to say that Islam is as much a political system as it is a faith, whereas Christianity, the founder of Christianity eschewed politics. So Christianity has informed politics.

John Anderson: Yeah.

Dr. Michael Youssef: But the idea of the separation of church and state is actually very much a Christian concept.

John Anderson: Right. Yes, because

Dr. Michael Youssef: It wasn't just government saying get Christianity out of our lives.

John Anderson: No, absolutely not. Jesus said to the Pontius Pilate, my kingdom is not of this world. If it was, I would have called angels to come and but you see that's the whole thing. The kingdom of God is other worldly. The rule of God is in the heart of his children, not geographical, not location, not space. But the kingdom of Islam is location, geography, the world take it over and bring it to the feet of Allah. And the one thing I've wrote a book years ago called the end times and the secret of the Mahdi. And if you put this description of the Mahdi in some of their eschatology against what the Bible talks about the Antichrist and match In fact, I have a little part in this book about that just to show the similarities of the description of the the beast and the book of Revelation and the the coming of the Mahdi, what he does, and where he goes, and so forth.

Now, obviously, they picked it up from Christian thought and that was rampant at that time. But it's it's amazing to me the Mahdi that the 12th Shi'as, particularly the Iranian waiting for cuz the 12th Shi'a, the 12th successor to Ali, the Shi'a of Ali, remember the party of Ali, died in infancy. He was 5 years old. He was 5 He was He was Imam and 5 years old died. They say now he's an occultation. He's hiding. And when the world becomes so embroiled in turmoil, he's going to show up. He's hiding for now. And that is why you have this fatalistic uh determination to bring the world to turmoil on the part of the Iranians because they are 12 Shi'as.

So if they create this turmoil globally, the 12 Shi'a will show up from occultation. And that is why now this whole concept of the Mahdi he that really was not bought into by the Sunnis, but that some of them are buying into now because of the Iran situation with the West. But it it it in many ways is scary that the Antichrist is their Mahdi.

Dr. Michael Youssef: Mm.

John Anderson: He's going to show up at some point.

Dr. Michael Youssef: Well, in the peoples of your homeland.

John Anderson: Sure.

Dr. Michael Youssef: Um you just nailed it Islam as a geographic and politically centered movement.

John Anderson: Right.

Dr. Michael Youssef: Whereas Christianity has never been primarily concerned with politics or geography

John Anderson: Right.

Dr. Michael Youssef: or even races.

John Anderson: Right.

Dr. Michael Youssef: But Christianity has informed

John Anderson: Yes.

Dr. Michael Youssef: Western civilization by its insistence that each of us has worth at the same time as each of us are flawed.

John Anderson: Mm. Yeah.

Dr. Michael Youssef: So we've had to try and revise systems which rise above what we now call identity politics

John Anderson: Yep.

Dr. Michael Youssef: uh and racial hatred and divisions and gender divisions and even generational divisions to say that all are worthy and all must be respected. That's shaped our concepts of democracy. We're so good we had to have the vote. We're so bad we had to have the vote.

John Anderson: Yeah. Yeah. Yep.

Dr. Michael Youssef: If that makes sense.

John Anderson: Yes.

Dr. Michael Youssef: Uh the common law should apply, clunky as it often is. You can think of a certain member of the royal family now who's not been able to get away

John Anderson: Yeah. Mm.

Dr. Michael Youssef: with the way he's behaved.

John Anderson: That's right.

Dr. Michael Youssef: That would not happen in many of the cultures around the world today.

John Anderson: No, they would have hidden it long time ago and paid off and everybody and so hidden.

Dr. Michael Youssef: I was once driven to the airport by a taxi driver and I had been back in private life for quite a while. And uh he came from one of these violent countries we're talking about.

John Anderson: Mm.

Dr. Michael Youssef: And as we went to the airport, I I was relieved. I thought he doesn't recognize me. And I can snooze off cuz I was very tired. We got halfway to the airport. We were crossing the Sydney Harbour Bridge and he just quietly said he was a very big, powerful man. Deep down his chest he said, this is a wonderful country. In my country, I would not be driving the former deputy prime minister to the airport in my taxi. He said he would be in a big black Mercedes-Benz bought with squandered aid dollars, being followed by a bunch of goons with Tommy guns on a Jeep.

John Anderson: Oh wow. That is absolutely correct.

Dr. Michael Youssef: That's what he said to me.

John Anderson: Yes.

Dr. Michael Youssef: I raised one eyebrow and said that's an interesting comment. Uh and I won't tell you uh what he told me about his homeland. We have so much to be thankful for.

John Anderson: Absolutely. Absolutely. And this is the problem and I could always say, you know, even for those who came like myself who came to the West, we are grateful that we found a place here. Instead of gratitude, which I know on the part of many many immigrants from many countries, the Islamists come here with the understanding that we are going to conquer you and we're going to rule and we're going to dominate you. And it's like the mayor of Dearborn, Michigan was now become very Islamized.

Dr. Michael Youssef: It became some sort of homeland of Islam in America, isn't it?

John Anderson: Particularly Dearborn. A Christian man came at a public hearing at the city council and he was talking about this is a Christian country and you can't do this, you can't do that. The mayor who's a Muslim said to him so get out of my city.

Dr. Michael Youssef: In America?

John Anderson: In America.

Dr. Michael Youssef: We don't think those things can happen in America.

John Anderson: Get out of my city. Dearborn, Michigan. It's in public domain. And now Paterson, New Jersey, they now call it little Palestine. And many parts of Minneapolis, Minnesota is totally Islamic now and Somalis. And you go on and on and on and on and on in Texas and and everywhere. They They're literally building just like they did in England, these no-go zones. And eventually they'll connect them together.

Dr. Michael Youssef: Many Jewish friends of mine are quite progressive in a

John Anderson: I know it. I have my neighbors who Jewish neighbors are very progressive.

Dr. Michael Youssef: They're aligning themselves with or have with people who are actually marching on the bridge

John Anderson: Yep.

Dr. Michael Youssef: protesting Israel.

John Anderson: I know.

Dr. Michael Youssef: And I know people who try and make this distinction. Oh, I'm not anti-Jewish. I'm just anti-Israel. But a lot of them I'm afraid I'm no longer convinced. It looks very thin to me.

John Anderson: No, no. Yeah. Is there a link between the way in which progressives have joined with Islam because it has to be said that Islamic people

Dr. Michael Youssef: Mm.

John Anderson: loathe the Jewish people

Dr. Michael Youssef: Yeah.

John Anderson: between the rise in antisemitism and the embracing by the forces of progressivism in the West with Islam.

Dr. Michael Youssef: Yes. But they will use them. I mean, the Muslims will use them.

John Anderson: Are you saying some of our cleverest people are useful idiots?

Dr. Michael Youssef: Yeah, well, they they call them the donkeys of the revolution. It's a dirty term, not mine.

John Anderson: Do you know because there's a lot of academics in this country who need to have a long hard look.

Dr. Michael Youssef: I know. I asked the deputy prime minister of Israel one time. I said explain to me, how can I handle my neighbors, my Jewish neighbors? I live in a high rise and and there's some prominent Jewish families. They just absolutely anti-Israel. And he said I I wish I can explain it to you. The only thing that he can think about is that anything right-wing and that's if you consider the Republican Party is right-wing is that they shy away from. So they stay on the left.

John Anderson: Yeah.

Dr. Michael Youssef: That's yeah.

John Anderson: I see. Yeah, it's it's it's intriguing and and to me very concerning that we can't rise above that because you see the the great sin, we touched on this earlier, is is apparently that Westerners are colonizers. So you know, the Islamic are being colonized and they're still into it in a big way, the radicals picked up apparently that's acceptable. But if there's one piece of baloney that is impossible to swallow in my view, it's the idea that the people who live in Israel are colonizers.

Dr. Michael Youssef: Yes. Yes. Yeah. I know.

John Anderson: They were there before Islam was even dreamt of.

Dr. Michael Youssef: I know. And my first visit was our shocked of how well they treat the Arabs. This is many years ago. And all the signs Arabic, Hebrew, and English and all of that just really impacted me for years I haven't been there and traveled there at all. But when the first time I went, it was an eye opener to me. And then I realized that I was born the same year Israel was born and and you know, when they the United Nations and Truman and all you know, acknowledged this is Israel, they accepted. They didn't fight.

They didn't say we want more land. They said fine. And since then, every war with the Arabs started with the Arabs. In 1948 after the United Nations Declaration, they united together, went to war with Israel. They got defeated. I lived during the six-day war in the Middle East. And I remember Nasser on television saying, we asked United Nations peacekeepers to move from the straits and because he's going to basically go in and throw Israel into the sea. And the king of Jordan came and signed agreement with him and Syria and they're all going to go and push Israel to the sea.

Six-day war. I I was sitting there when he said, I can light a cigarette and by the time I finish it, we'll be in Tel Aviv. And the crowds in the street were saying basically this, after we finish Saturday, we're going to come back and finish Sunday. In fact, I have a chapter in my book of this title that we're going to finish Saturday, the Jews, and then we're going to come on the Christians on Sunday. Saturday, Sunday. And mercifully, Moshe Dayan had a had an amazing strategy and he brought his officers, opened the scripture and read the story of David and Goliath.

And he said to them David basically was watching for a weak spot in the forehead. And that's where he got Goliath. And then he began to tell him look, they are surrounding us and they want to send us to the sea. So what do we need to do? They have a a vulnerable spot. And that's all their Mags that the Russians have given them, the Syrians and Egyptians, sitting there on the ground. So they got up on that faithful day in June of 67 and they went out early in the morning 5 o'clock for 6 o'clock.

And they went there and basically I've seen one because I lived next to Air Force base. It was like toys just and the conscripts people who were in the front were all conscripted. There were doctors, engineers, pharmacists, professionals from universities just came out. And they spoke English and they were listening to the BBC and the BBC said Air Force of Egypt and Israel they're totally destroyed. So that's when they basically dumped their weapons and start walking back. In fact, in Egypt, the big joke was they used to call it in the newspapers. It's a six-day run.

This is how long it took them to get to the Suez Canal at the border. And the Israelis stopped shooting. They just kept following them, kept following six days, walked down the Sinai all the way to the Suez Canal. So you got 48, 67, 73 of course. So that surprised them on Yom Kippur and crossed over and so it's always started by the Arabs. The Israelis never started a war against the Arabs. Historically speaking, and I'm not an apologist for Israel. I'm I'm an apologist for the truth. And I always say just go with the truth is.

Don't let it be colored by mud. But focus on the truth. And the truth is Israel has always been the victim. And

John Anderson: Will the world be a safer place given that Israel really has massively degraded Iran's proxies? And now the Israelis and the Americans we're all wondering a bit about the poor explanation of the real objectives. And I'm personally not convinced there'll be regime change.

Dr. Michael Youssef: Not quite. Yeah. Yeah. Sure. And that's tragic for the Iranian people. But actually Iran has been an major sponsor and exporter of terrorism even to Australia.

John Anderson: No question. Yes. Yes.

Dr. Michael Youssef: It is the you know, the events at the moment they're a bit worrying. The progressives are all saying oh, we're offending international law. Where were when the were killing their own? When that regime was killing their own people?

John Anderson: What international That's right.

Dr. Michael Youssef: Where were for not wearing

John Anderson: Yeah.

Dr. Michael Youssef: the the the the garb properly?

John Anderson: Yeah, exactly. Yep.

Dr. Michael Youssef: The international law didn't wasn't their concern and they didn't raise it. Now because the Americans and we love to hate the Americans

John Anderson: Yeah. Of course.

Dr. Michael Youssef: Um but will the world be a safer place after this?

John Anderson: No question in my mind that even the Lebanese government is rising up and their army have been asked to go in and clean house among Hezbollah. Because not all Shi'as in Lebanon are members of Hezbollah. And therefore, there are some Shi'as in Lebanon who are anti-Hezbollah. And so they were glad when the Israelis did the walkie-talkies and all that stuff. And Hezbollah is Shi'a, but Hamas also Sunnis. But they're both receiving I'm talking about billions of dollars. They said Haniyeh after he was killed, the head of Hamas, his boys went to Turkey trying to get the Turkish government give them the money, the billions of dollars in Turkish bank.

These leaders, I met Yasser Arafat in 2004 uh Ramallah in his presidential palace. And he died a billionaire. His wife and daughter were had a an entire wing at the Ritz in Paris. And they were paying something like, you know, $2 million rent a year.

Dr. Michael Youssef: The French ought to have a bit of a look at themselves, you know.

John Anderson: Oh my goodness. Well, I start on the French.

Dr. Michael Youssef: Well, for those who don't know what I'm talking about, many of those revolutionaries who have now visited such misery on the Iranian people and beyond

John Anderson: Yeah.

Dr. Michael Youssef: they lived in Paris for a long time.

John Anderson: I know it. Well, Khomeini.

Dr. Michael Youssef: They were shaped and influenced by

John Anderson: Yeah.

Dr. Michael Youssef: French left-wing academics

John Anderson: Exactly.

Dr. Michael Youssef: from the West.

John Anderson: Well, Khomeini lived there for all the entire time of his exile until he came back.

John Anderson: Tell me a bit about your ministry because we are

Dr. Michael Youssef: Sure.

John Anderson: whether people like it or not engaged in great ferment over belief systems

Dr. Michael Youssef: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

John Anderson: and Islamic belief is right up there.

Dr. Michael Youssef: Yeah. Yeah.

John Anderson: And on many indications at the moment, they're advancing very successfully.

Dr. Michael Youssef: Yes.

John Anderson: Christianity looks like in many ways it's in retreat.

Dr. Michael Youssef: Yes.

John Anderson: I think you'd have a different perspective.

Dr. Michael Youssef: I do and

John Anderson: You love the people of the part of the world where you grew up.

Dr. Michael Youssef: I love Well, not only that. I I I really love all people because the gospel does not discriminate. I love Australia, especially Australia. I have to love Australia every day for the last 55 years I've been married. I've been married to Australia.

John Anderson: It's great here.

Dr. Michael Youssef: A country is great.

John Anderson: That's right. Love and adore my wife. Been married 55 years. And now but truthfully, you know, when God gave me a vision for media and I really didn't have it, I said while I'm technically challenged, I want to bring the technical people to use every technology that it known to man to impact the world. And so we have these little navigators that we send out to all the remote villages in Indonesia and and by the hundreds of thousands and in Bangladesh in the villages just amazing lady in Bangladesh loads a truck and go to different locations.

She preaches the gospel and she gives them that gospel based on solar. You can put it on the you know, don't need electricity to listen to it. The Bible in their language and then 500 of my messages translated into their language. And we've been do this in 28 languages. Then of course came AI. And I brought a man who's really God just brought him to my life and he walked out on a very very lucrative job because they asked him to compromise his Christian conviction. So I said you're hired. Now, we have our own AI.

myfaithassistant.com Ask any question. It doesn't matter what it is, theological, emotional, personal, societal, anything, any question. You ask the question, we'll give you an answer, but it's all biblically sound based on 1,600 sermons that are preached and the scripture of course above all. And 57 of my books. And so we're invading that space anywhere. We have a satellite channel in 260 million homes in the Arabic speaking world. And in Australia now the board here have brought it on one of your satellites so that the Arabic speaking people in Australia listen to it. And I just wanted to do everything I can before I go to glory to ensure that those who have never heard here through media, through technology.

Jesus said in Matthew 24, the gospel of the kingdom must be preached around the world as a testimony to all nations, then the end will come. And I always say people those people always saying, you know, the the rapture, the rapture, the rapture. I said you want the rapture to happen, stop preaching the gospel. And so that is the passion that I have and it is stronger at 77 than it was at 57. Especially now that I'm I used to say I'm on the fourth quarter then a pro football player in my congregation. He said no, no, no, you're not in the fourth quarter.

You're at the overtime. And he said because the beauty about overtime is that sudden death. Then so I said I'm going to basically work and serve and do all I can so that men and women, boys and girls come to know Jesus. That is the passion of my life. All the other good things wonderful. I just don't get sidetracked by them. The gospel is my focus has been. It will always be until I go to glory. And so we're talking it to 195 countries in the most spoken languages of the world, Mandarin, Cantonese, Turkish, Farsi, Arabic.

And we keep going. I'm praying the God will raise more young people because I don't know when Jesus coming back. But we need to plan as if he's not coming back for 100 years, but I'm ready as if he comes tomorrow. Hello friends. You have seen the wave of extremism on college campus in conversation with some young people in your life, even in many churches, two radical ideologies. Once enemies, now they're marching together. They shut down debate, excuse violence, and they target biblical truth. That alliance is real and it is deliberate in an unholy alliance.

I explain what these two radical opposed forces are, why they are working together, and also give you the 1400 year backstory many people are entirely ignorant about that is shaping today's headlines. Get my book An Unholy Alliance. It's going to open your eyes and give you practical ways to make a difference for Christ.
