Silent Witness Art Print
Imagine quietly walking through a moonlit, snowy woods, and coming upon a buck deer and his doe. He raises his head and you stand motionless and breathless with excitement. I painted this gouache-and-watercolor rendering in 1992, hoping the viewer would experience that delightful moment of surprise. Rather than paint the deer in detail, I rendered their ‘attitude’ with just a few strokes. “Silent Witness” is a quiet, yet powerful expression of Psalm 33:8, “Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.” Truly, the moment captured in this painting is a silent witness of the beauty of God in all of creation… even the deer.

Take courage knowing you’ve got Jesus in your corner. The fight you’re fighting will not last forever – one day it’ll be finished, and every battle you’ve won against sin will bring honor and glory to your Savior. It’s what fighting the good fight is all about.

You may be facing some frightening obstacles today and feel like you want to stay in bed. If this describes you, you need God’s courage. Know that you can get through the day because courage is not the absence of fear, it is the abundance of faith, and faith always comes when you’re close to Jesus.

No matter what your hardship is today, you can find a way to make your hard road to Calvary a little smoother, whether through great or small efforts. It could be a notable act of service or something as simple as waving from your driveway like Joni’s friend David.

I hope you can say that you would rather have your difficulties, than not have them at the expense of knowing Christ. I pray that he be that important and urgent in your life.
