May 31, 2021

If you look at your life and feel you need a change, ask yourself what’s missing? In this sermon, Dr. Stanley uses the parable of the rich young man in Mark 10 to address our desire to change and where it comes from. Why the restlessness if all we are meant to do is follow Him?

In this message, Dr. Stanley discusses Scripture that discredits the false belief that while saved by grace, we must live by works. Our need for daily grace is like all of God’s most precious truths; it must be comprehended by our minds, our hearts, and our souls. The grace of God is unchanging and unending. And we can learn to appropriate it, not by striving or claiming, but by believing and trusting in Him.

While grace may be a popular word for Christians to read, sing, and say, that doesn't necessarily make it easier for us to understand how it works. In this message, Dr. Stanley discusses the depths and reach of God’s grace as it relates to our salvation. When our eyes are opened to the sinfulness in our lives, it becomes even harder to explain how God, in all of His righteousness and holiness, could reach down and save us. Yet once we have accepted the gift of salvation, we can say with all the saints—by the grace of God, our sins are forgiven and we have been made new.

When we experience pain or face unexpected trials, out of our hearts comes one clear question: Why? It’s natural to seek understanding, but what if we're asking the wrong question? In this message, Dr. Stanley challenges us to ask ourselves the most important question: How will I respond? We may never know why, but we can still choose how we will respond when trials come our way. We can't always understand God, but we can always trust Him.
