It is God who sanctifies us through our repentance.
Repentance is not just regret, nor is it just stopping what we are doing wrong and turning from our wicked way. It is more than that. It is turning our heart to Our Heavenly Father. It is reconnecting of our love relationship with our God and receiving eternal life through his love.
Other religions also teach to turn from wrong doing and try to do right or live right, but it is like a hamster in a wheel. There is no loving God who is waiting for us. But in Christianity, there is God, Heavenly Father, waiting to accept us. Real repentance is knowing how deeply we’ve hurt God and then experiencing the sorrow and responding to it. We take up the cross and follow Jesus to let others know how much God loves us in response to the love He has shown us at the cross. We do it because God’s love compels us to.
