Revelation 11:3-5 Part 3
We’re on a journey through Revelation with pastor Matt VanderVen and today we pay a visit to chapter eleven and verses three through five. We’re going to learn about the Sheep Goat judgment that happens just prior to the Millennial Reign.
Guest (Male): Pastor Matt encourages us to turn to Christ today before the great tribulation comes.
Matt VanderVen: There's nothing that's going to stop this from happening, what you're reading today. There's no great revival. Well, that may happen. That's not going to stop the great tribulation from happening. There's no great awakening that's going to stop the great tribulation from happening. Our hope is that that there will be another revival and another great awakening so that people don't have to go through what? The great tribulation. Nothing stops God's plan. Please, I pray anybody that's hearing this on the radio, anybody that's driving in their car and this comes on Hope FM and you're hearing this and maybe you're saying well I haven't given my life to Christ.
Today is the day of salvation. If there's anybody here and you've been wayward or you haven't been certain or matter of fact in your decision, give your life to Jesus today. Be all in.
Guest (Male): We are delighted to share the next half hour together with you and welcome again to His Perfect Love, the radio outreach of Calvary Chapel Harrisburg West Shore. We're on a journey through Revelation with Pastor Matt Vanderven, and today we pay a visit to chapter 11 verses 3 through 5. We're going to learn about the sheep goat judgment that happens just prior to the millennial reign. As Pastor Matt said a moment ago, if our faith is in Christ, we have nothing to fear and heaven to gain.
Matt VanderVen: Daniel Daniel chapters 12 tell us everything we need to know, verses 11 and 12, okay? Look at verse 11 and 12. It answers it all, fills in the blank, and just because we're in this passage, I thought apologetically let's go there and look at it. I know I'm taking your time, but we should all understand this because maybe you'll meet somebody that's Jewish and you'll say, hey, when this happens, and you may not believe now, but if you get saved during that great tribulation, I want you to know there's going to be 30 days and then 45 days afterwards, you don't give up hope because my God said this is what's going to happen.
They're going to look at you strange, maybe even do one of these. Or maybe they're this way. But either way, they're going to look at you strange. Why? Because how do you know this? Because I took the entire counsel of God and I did not shun to hear or teach the entire word of God as Paul declared. Daniel chapter 12 verse 11 and 12. From that time that the daily sacrifice is what? Abolished. When does that happen again? Remind me. How many days? Somebody said it a minute ago. 1,260 days. It's when Antichrist goes in and desecrates the temple.
They can't have the sacrifice anymore. You with me? So it has to be at that point. It has to be right in the middle of the great tribulation. It says when that is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up. In other words, there's also going to be after he goes in and you know defames it, he's going to also put some kind of monument or something in there to represent him, to worship. That's what we that's where we get that idea right here. And it says there will be 1,290 days. So from the day that Antichrist goes in and he declares to be worshipped as God, the peace treaty's broken, all of a sudden we just skipped how many days?
30 days. That's right. Where were the people of Israel during this time being? Were they staying in Jerusalem or did God command them to get out of Jerusalem and go into the wilderness? What do you think the Antichrist is going to do during that moment he desecrates the temple? What did And I I'm I'm not uh I want to be very clear here. Um this isn't thus say the Lord, but this is an example for you, it's topology. Hitler When Hitler tried to exterminate the Jews, you do realize the Holocaust in fact did happen. 6 million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust and many more believe, okay?
What did they have to do and if you would have gone in that area of Germany in different places, what did they find later on as they were going and digging around some of those concentration camps? Did they find as the Jewish people would have practiced individual graves or did they find mass graves where they found bodies laid on top of each other in a way that would have been so disgusting to the Jewish people? You're talking about and this is important for us to see and it's hard for my heart because it's hard for your heart probably too, because what this is telling us and connoting to us or giving us an idea is is that when he goes in and he defames God by wanting to be worshipped as God, it doesn't stop there.
He then is going to do what? And we already actually read that in part of another scripture, which is why they're fleeing out of there. What's he going to try to do? Exterminate Israel. Did you know that that he is going to come back, the Antichrist? He's not going to just defile the temple. He is going to try to exterminate just like uh Hitler did and you can go back throughout history of people that have attacked the Jewish people and tried to exterminate the whole population. That's what Antichrist is doing. As a matter of fact, in scripture it says that they were types of Antichrist.
Antichrist have been on the scene, but there's one Antichrist and what he is going to do after he desecrates that temple, he's going to give an order and he's going to say kill every single Jew, man, woman, and child. And that's exactly what he's going to decree. And that's why they got to flee. They got to get away and God's got to supernaturally protect them. Chapter 12 verse 6. Now when you have that kind of death, and I know that's hard because we know people that are Jewish, that are living in Israel, it's a secular nation and we love the people of Israel, right?
God says those who bless Israel will be blessed, those who curse Israel will be cursed. We love the Jewish people. We we support many ministries in in Israel by sending people over there through other Calvaries and different things like that. We we love the Jewish people. We want them to come to salvation as the scripture prophesied that they will. Jeremiah 31:31. But we have to understand that there's going to come a mass attempt at extermination again. And that before Christ comes back. And literally those who are fortunate to escape it, we don't know the numbers.
But you're going to have such a situation that you're going to have bodies piled up upon bodies. There is no way a Jewish person would ever dare to go back in Jerusalem when you have that kind of death before you. Do you remember the day the 6-day war? Do you remember some of the other things when they had mass casualties and how God supernaturally But they you had to do the same thing. They had to bury the dead of the Gentile, the other people that came in to attack them. There's going to have to be mass burials.
That 30 days I truly believe is what that's for. It's to take and to reestablish Israel, which has just been tried to be destroyed, specifically Jerusalem, forgive me, that's been tried or attempted to be destroyed by the Antichrist. And so the bodies are going to have to be buried, okay? Because they will not come back into Jerusalem even if Christ comes because they will say you're not Lord because you told us under the law that we're not allowed to be under death or a dead body because that's an unclean thing. Remember the Jewish mind, law.
Think like they think, not think like the Christian where we know we're no longer under the law. Think like they think, right? So they're going to turn around so I'm not going to that can't be Messiah. If Messiah would come and it was like that, we can't go there. That's not the real Messiah, Jesus, because they would say he's violating the law that he had get because they don't realize that he fulfilled the law, right? They haven't processed that yet. So that's one part of it. The second part of it, right? Is after that 30 days, and by the way, that's a lot of time, but what do you think you would do if after 30 days you saw all your brothers, sisters, people that couldn't make it out, maybe a mom and dad, maybe one of your daughters or your sons or your cousins, that you are getting reports back, you're in the wilderness, but you're hearing reports back that cousin James didn't make it out, your niece Suzy who's only five didn't make it out, that that that they were all murdered.
What you're mourning, you're broken. You're you're done. You're shot, right? Mentally you're just shot. Okay, so you're sitting there, you're trying to process that. What did you just do at that point also? Because those two witnesses, what were their jobs again? Their jobs would give the gospel to give encouragement and to draw you to what? Salvation in Christ. So many of those people that are in that wilderness that day are going to give their lives to Christ. How do I know that? Because we're going to read in a little bit about a sheep goat judgment and only the people that make it through the sheep goat judgment are going to be the people that are in the millennial reign that are still alive.
There's qualifications to getting into the millennial reign. You and I come back, Revelation 19, but those who are alive on the earth that go through the great tribulation have to go through two things. One, they can't be part of the work of the Gentile. In other words, killing their Jews, nobody betraying a Jewish betraying another person. That's an elimination point. And you also can't be found guilty in the goat sheep judgment. I'll show you that here in a minute. If you meet all those qualifications, you will still be alive in the millennial reign at which Christ comes and we come down with him in Revelation 19 and we begin to minister.
But during that time, there is going to be such heartache and rent that literally all this is happening. You just accepted Jesus Christ and like anybody else, if you accepted Jesus Christ and then this stuff is still going on and there's you're going what's going on, Lord? I did what you said. I received you. I am sorry. I made a mistake. I blew it, but now I received you as my Lord and Savior. Why are you still allowing this to happen? This should all end now. Like why are you coming against the Jewish people? We're your chosen people.
Why are you doing this? You have a covenant with us, a promise. Think about every other time God has acted in scripture. Aaron and her with Moses. Was that immediate or did that take days? When Aaron and her came over to Moses and he lifted his hands up, the battle did what? Did it change immediately or did it take days for the battle to change? Immediate. Immediate, right? I want you to think about other times where God is gone in on behalf of the Jewish Joshua in the book of Joshua. I He goes in and he tries to do it in his own strength.
He loses. He goes back to where he was near the Jordan, looks at the 12 stones that are raised up, reminds himself as a memorial God is the one that did this, God is over the 12 tribes, turns around, goes back, and now God says now I got your attention, Joshua. Now go in and fight the battle. And what does Joshua do? He goes in and fights the battle and he destroys I because of the army of Israel. Amen? And it was what? Immediate. It was immediate. It wasn't But now all of a sudden here we are.
Throughout their human history, they've seen God go immediately and deal with the problem and now all of a sudden they're out in the wilderness and it's not immediate. Jesus doesn't come back the very next day, that very moment. What do you think you would do? Do you think you would start questioning your faith? Lord, did I do the right thing? Is this real? Did I make a mistake? Lord God, have you forsaken Israel? Lord God, were they right? Do you really Have you really given up on the covenant with Israel? Are we not your promised children anymore?
Do you think if that was you and you had just gone through everything they went through, the shock and all of it all, that you're out in the wilderness, that you might have moments of doubt and a crisis of faith? Especially when half of the population's just been destroyed in the first 38 years. Anybody here agree? And that's why God has given us to us and given us to give to the Jewish people and for the Jewish people to read and understand so that those who turn around and do make it through that point when they read this he says very clearly there for the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished, Daniel chapter 12 11 and 12 and the abomination that causes desolation set up, there will be 1,290 days, 30 days more than the 1,260 days.
The witnesses are done at this point, right? We've already talked about that. They're dead in the street. They've ascended up. They've already the people that were supposed to give their lives to Christ or that responded to the witnesses, they're out in the wilderness. They believe, okay, good. And then what does he say? Very clearly there. Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of what? 1,335 days. Why would that number be everything to you? Because if you just fled after 1260, you just saw 30 more days go where they're burying the dead bodies, all these things are coming on and you're sitting there having a crisis of faith.
What's the first thing you're going to say? God, how long is this going to go? Did God not tell the people when he sent them in the captivity in Babylon, your captivity will be what? 70 years. 70 * 7490 for the times that you didn't honor your Sabbath, which is exactly what the punishment was, right? That you put all these things first, you committed idolatry, you will now go into captivity for 70 years and after 70 years you will be released. Did the people have to wonder when they were coming out of captivity or did they know when the judgment was going to end?
They knew. Is God doing the same thing right now through the prophet Daniel in chapter 12 telling them exactly what's going to happen after the 1,260 days, after the abomination of desolation, after 30 days after that Israel cleans up, things are still happening in Jerusalem. He says don't give up. I'm coming. You just have to wait those additional how many days? 40 days. Is that right? What's 1335 - 1260? 75. If I take 75 and I minus 30 years, what's left? 45. Okay, 45 days. After 45 days more in the wilderness who's coming? And where's the Antichrist going to be taken and put into the pit, locked up with the false witness?
They know. Do you see this? Did you ever see this before? It's always been there. And he's communicated it to them because it's judgment and those who receive Christ don't give up hope because once you make it, right? Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1335 days. So it's beautiful. That's what he That's what I wanted you to see this morning. That God God has this beautiful plan. So if somebody ever comes to you and says, oh, but there's a different of days you know, the 1335, we got the 129 and so you can't trust the Bible.
Oh, no, no, no. I'm glad you asked that question. Let's go on a journey together. Please open your Bibles too. And you take them right there and you show them God's perfect holy work and how he has planned all of this out and God is very intentional for the Jewish people. He's very intentional for all of his people. He loves his people and he's going to protect them. So I don't want to get ahead of myself. We know what's going to happen already. Um they're going to end up dying. Um just looking at our time we have left.
Again, I think what's going to take place during those 45 days is is is really very clear. I think it's going to be the also the judgment of the Gentile nation needs to occur. You might be saying how do you know that? Oh, I'm glad you asked. Turn in your Bibles here to Matthew 25. Hang in there with me, okay? Matthew chapter 25 verse 31 through 46. Jesus tells us something very clear here. Matthew 25 Look at verses 31 through 46. The Son of Man will judge the nations. When the Son of Man comes in His glory and all the holy angels in Him, they will sit on the throne of His glory and all the nations will be gathered to Him and He will be separate them from one for another as shepherd divides His what?
Sheep from His goats. Remember I would take to you this and tell you that there's a sheep goat judgment. Jesus said that. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on His left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, come be blessed my father and inherit the Kingdom God prepared for you and before the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger and you took me in. I was naked and you clothed me.
I was sick and you visited me and I was imprisoned and you came. What's he talking about? He's saying when all these things were going on and the punishment during the great tribulation against the Jewish people, there are going to be Gentiles that are going to stand up and say this is wrong. You can't do this just like during uh the World War II when there were many people that were taking Jewish people and hiding them in their homes, right? Because it was wrong and evil. And they were turning around and doing that. There are going to be Gentiles today.
This is the great judgment between uh what's called the the the sheep goat judgment. And this happens on the earth before the millennial reign. And it's again one of the requirements. Those who don't make it through this will not go through the millennial reign. They will be immediately put into that pit there until the ultimately until finally in Revelation when the lake of fire is opened up and then everybody's cast in the lake of fire that doesn't have their names written in the Lamb's Book of Life. He goes on to say then the righteous will answer him saying, Lord, when did we see you?
And they go through and try to justify sides is when you've done it to the least of these I say you've done it unto me. Verse 40. And they will say those on the left hand depart from me, you cursed into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels for I was hungry and you gave me to food. I was thirsty, you gave me no drink. I was a stranger and you did not take me in naked and you and you did not clothe me, sick in prison, you did not visit me. Then they will answer saying, Lord, when did we see you hungry thirsty, you know?
When did this happen? When did you not minister to you? And He says to them saying, assuredly I say to you as much as you did not do it to one of the least of these you did not do it to me and these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into everlasting life. Do you see that? So that's important because during that 45 days that's when that sheep goat judgment's going to happen. It has to timeline wise because Jesus is coming back and the millennial reign hasn't started yet. This has to happen first chronologically.
And again in this judgment, those that were Gentiles that were against the Jews, they're going to pay for that. Anybody who didn't aid their brother or sister, right? Matthew chapter 25 40. They turned a blind eye to the Jews troubles, woes, didn't aid, didn't help in their persecution. Again, so those who survive the tribulation survive the sheep goat judgment, them and only them are going to be the prodigals that enter into the millennium. And you remember what we read earlier how he said it would be a blessing? That is a blessing indeed, isn't it? So in summary, and I'm going to transition to our time of communion here this morning because I think this is really important how we make this transition here.
I know we covered a lot today and I know we went off and looked at some things in Daniel and I and I some of that was apologetic while we were still handling Revelation for it. It was important that we did that because we need to stop and pause when the Bible's talking about something that references other scriptures like Zechariah or talks about other events because once we begin to move on from this, we're going to be moving into a different section of Revelation where we're now going to be kind of fast forwarding and going beyond the midpoint.
Okay, that will culminate in chapter 13 roughly there. But I just wanted us to talk about that and have that time now to understand what are these 30 days and 45 days apart from the 1,260 days and it just seemed a fitting place to do that. So chronologically, just to check everybody's understanding here sometime after the rapture of the church, the Antichrist enters into a treaty with Israel. That begins the great tribulation. At the midpoint of the great tribulation, 1,260 days, the Antichrist breaks the treaty, desecrates the temple and begins to persecute the Jews. We all understand that.
At the end of the tribulation, another 1,260 day 1,260 days, right? Not the first 1,260 which had the two witnesses. After the desecration, there's another 1,260 days because that makes seven years. You with me? That's the back half what I was just talking about in the 30 and 45 days at the end of that. The back half, right? Then after that desecration temple, we know there's another 1,260 days before Christ returns to defeat the Antichrist. But during that time that Christ returns, there's a 30 days. Daniel talked about that already and that's the 30 days that adds on to the 1,260 days, which really gives us how many days?
1,290 days and that's either for the rebuilding of Jerusalem. After the destruction of the temporal, he's going to rebuild it in the earth. And why? Because that temple was just desecrated. Do you think Jesus Christ is going to walk into a desecrated temple and begin the sacrifices again? No. Why? Because they wouldn't do that even with Antiochus Epiphanes, which was a type given us to Daniel 8 earlier, which tells us 2,300 days. Now you know why we studied Daniel 8. It was a type to show us how it's already been done and what was carried on or how it was done.
Now after that during the next 45 days, what do we have during that 45 days before the millennial reign begins? There has to be a judgment because Matthew We just went into the book of Matthew and Jesus said there's a great judgment that comes before the millennium. What was that? It's the sheep goat judgment. And we just read that. So during the next 45 days which culminates in how many days total? So you got 1,260, you got 30 and then you got 45 giving you how many days from the time that Antichrist desecrates the temple till the millennial starts.
1,335 days if you did your math correctly, right? So anybody who's alive that hears this message, and I pray to God somehow this is restored and I pray to God you wrote notes in your Bible right now. I pray to God somebody finds your Bible that goes through that great tribulation and they come to this point in Revelation and they see your footnotes that's taking them back to Daniel 8, Daniel chapter 12 and they're reading your Bible right now. And they're thinking about this as they're going through the great tribulation and they turn to their Jewish brother or their Jewish sister or a Gentile even that gets saved at that time that's part of those that come alongside the Jews and they say, hold out brother, hold out sister, don't give up hope.
We have 1,335 days and then Jesus is coming. Jesus is coming. Don't give up hope. They're going to need that at that time. Don't you understand? They're going to need that because they're they got nothing left. Half of the population of the earth is dead. They got no family. They've been killed. They just left everything they knew in Jerusalem. Everything's desecrated. They don't even want to be alive if they if they could go, they would. And then literally they're going to read I pray to God they find your Bible. They're going to read some of It's 1,335 days.
They're going to turn around. They're going to see that and then maybe they're going to look on their little calendar and they're going to go that's five days more. We're going to make it. Okay, don't do it. Get ration, find the food, ration the water. We're going to make it. 13 1,335 days. This is real. We're talking about something that's real. We're talking about human life here. We're talking about God 's promise to the covenant and to the people of Israel. And then we're going to see what? A judgment. Jesus Christ is going to touch down on the earth.
The mountains are going to be split. You and I are coming with him. So we're going to see all of that in in in man more than 3D high definition. We're going to see it and then right at that point we're going to actually witness. We're going to witness this sheep goat judgment and we're going to watch the people that are going to go to the left and God's going to say you're going to go to the right and the people that are going to go to the right are going to come alongside us. And they're going to be ministering with us.
Now they never got raptured out. They lived through the great tribulation. They were some of the very fortunate. And they're going to serve with you and I, Jesus Christ for that thousand years while Satan is bound. Is everybody with me chronologically? Everybody understand what I just explained? If not, please re-listen to this tape, re-listen to this and tell everybody you know, tell every Jewish Jewish person you ever meet, tell the Gentiles that you meet, tell them about what is going to happen so that they understand and are prepared, okay? And I'm sorry I'm so passionate about this, but I just know that there are going to be people that are going to go through the great tribulation that I know that I want to desperately hear this and to repent and to hold on.
And I really have a a a fire for that, right? And we're going to close with this in verse five and then have our time of communion. Um and if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from the mouth and devours their enemies and if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner. Okay, the protection of fire comes from their mouths. Anyone goes to harm them, I mean we might be thinking that's cool, right? But you know like back off kind of a thing, but I'm thankful that God doesn't give that gift to any flesh.
It would be wrong, right? He says very clearly that those who try to harm him will be what? They're going to be destroyed by this fire. Nothing stops God's plan and what God chooses. There's nothing that's going to stop this from happening what you're reading today. There's no great revival. Well, that may happen. That's not going to stop the great tribulation from happening. There's no great awakening that 's going to stop the great tribulation happening.
Be all in.

About His Perfect Love
His Perfect Love is a radio ministry of Calvary Chapel Harrisburg, with Pastor Matt VanderVen. This radio ministry is an extension of the calling found in Ephesians 4:12-15, "for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—"
