Phil Driver is the guest on this week's Trail to Adventure! Phil helps head up a ministry called Northwestern Iowa Special Youth Challenge. This is a youth hunt that takes disabled and terminally ill girls and boys afield for turkey in the spring and deer in the fall. Gerry and Phil talk about how the conference that is taking place during this interview was something that Phil only came to in order to meet more speakers for their ministry. He didn't think he would learn anything new at this Trail to Adventure! conference, but as you will hear he was sorely mistaken as he learned a number of things that helped their ministry carry on their mission.

The owners and operators of Rushing Wind Retreat Center share with Gerry and the listeners how God worked it out in their lives to own this facility. This couple also talk about all the amenities of the facility and how these play a part in setting the stage for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. This fly-in adventure fishing camp is a place where men can invite friends and relatives to join them for the five days. Also, there are couples retreats that have helped restore marriages and seen changed lives for eternity.

Gerry visits with Russell Thornberry, the retired executive editor of Buckmaster Magazine. Russell shares about the earlier years in his life when he was a guide in Alberta, Canada. Besides guiding fishermen for trout on the Bow River, he also guided big game hunters, but the number one animal hunters came to Alberta for was the massive whitetail deer. Russell shares how a person can stay warm sitting on the stand all day in 50 below weather and not suffer any ill effects.

The founder of the ministry "Kicking Bear," Ray Howell and his wife Karen join Gerry on this week's program. They discuss the ministry and how it's reaching so many young people across the country. Karen also shares her side of Ray's testimony, seeing a man who felt he didn't need anything and strived to be perfect. She shares how she prayed for him to see his need for a savior and goes into the details of that reality beginning to start to sink in to who Ray was. A story that certainly can be an encouragement to anyone who has someone they love and are praying to see one day receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Steve Scott of "On Target Outfitters" ministry shares how a couple of men in his church scooped him up into their adventures and life to see what a dad really should be like according to God's Word. This helped propel him as a young man into the ministry as a youth pastor and the founder of "On Target Outfitters." Steve also speaks about the book he wrote which is a devotional titled "Faith Afield" which correlates with a variety of outdoor topics and scriptures tied to each topic.

The author of the book, "More Than Meets the Eye" Dr. Richard Swenson, is the guest on this week's program. He taught surgery at the University of Wisconsin and also minored in physics when he was in college. With his knowledge he shares all the details from subatomic particle level, the cells, the human body and also the universe in looking at how stars and galaxies are laid out. Clearly, he shows with math and science that there has to be an intelligent designer.

This week's interview is with Dennis and Peggy Robinson who relate an experience that happened when they were dairy farmers in Wisconsin.Dennis had put God on a shelf and everything in his life was about him and what he wanted. His wife Peggy had turned him over to the Lord and said, "You need to deal with him Lord, he is yours." Two days later Dennis was pulled half way through a hay wagon, mechanical apparatus and was not expected to live from the massive injuries he received. Yet, God had a plan, and it included transforming a man to be what God wanted him to be.

Ken is joined by his wife Judy and the two talk about this time in their lives and how God wound up getting a hold of the two of them when an evangelist showed up at their door. Ken put this story into a tract titled The Ultimate Choice and eventually wound up writing an expanded story of this entire experience in Ken's life in a book with the same name, The Ultimate Choice.

The two discuss the numerous outdoor ministries that have come about over the years, and their ability to provide Christians who are looking to reach others enjoying God's creation and provide the ability to help win them to Jesus Christ, the Creator God. Tom shares about how The Christian Deer Hunters Association got started and how he never expected it to be what it is today. The two also talk about Volume II DVD, Trail to Adventure! Teaching Series for pastors and laymen and having to get in front of the camera to complete this project, a most uncomfortable experience for both of them.
