Free Resource | Does the Bible Promote Tolerance or Intolerance?
One group says the Bible is a book about love, mercy, and kindness. They think of the story of the Good Samaritan and of Jesus telling us to turn the other cheek. So how could anyone think the Bible prevents a tolerant society? But for another group, the Bible is far from tolerant. There’s the conquest of Canaan. There’s Elijah killing Baal’s prophets by his own hand. And in the New Testament, Jesus talks often about hell. That’s not tolerant. What then can we say in answer to this question? "Just trust God," can seem like trite advice. This Psalm is going to present to us the right place to look for help and encourage us to be willing to go to God.

You are Christians with the annointing from the Holy One Himself, and you don't need anything in addition to that. John is grounding us in the foundational truths of Christ and who He is. This helps us be discerning when we come across false teaching.

Knowing the truth about ourselves is so much more than just looking inward. It's coming into an increasing awareness of who we are in relationship to God. And along that journey comes wholeness.

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." In reality, names can grow into labels, and labels can affect how we live our lives. Pastor Josh explains that we each need to learn what is true about ourselves.

We think of love as a noun, when biblically it is a verb. We think of love as passive, when biblically it is active. We think of love as an experience, when biblically it is a sacrifice. Paul expresses how both the fear of the Lord and the love of Christ motivate him.

It really matters how we relate to the changing culture. We cannot take the head-in-the-sand approach that if something isn't explicitly Christian, then it has no value. The creativity of a Christian in his or her workplace—be it as a musician, an electrician, or an engineer—all have an opportunity to express the Creator's handiwork in how they do their work.

Christ said that we are to be in the world but not of the world. He prayed this for his disciples. As his followers, we certainly need prayers to achieve that tricky balance of being in the world but not of the world. We need to think clearly about this cultural integration and have solid direction from the Bible.

Your sins, if you've come to Jesus and made a profession of faith and been filled with His Spirit, are covered, past, present, and future. But as a child of God, in order to enjoy His presence, you need to keep short accounts. God is light; He is utterly pure, and He is holy.

When we listen to the hard-nosed atheist, the man who insists in denial that there is no God—we hear someone who "doth protest too much." In this message we try to get beneath that to see what is really going on in someone's heart.

The Psalms say that when we listen carefully, the language of our created heart reflects an accountability to the Creator. We feel that we are made for something…even someone.
