Evangelicals Losing Biblical Worldview Fast - Tare to Wheat Ratio Climbing

October 12, 2018

Barna Research’s recent numbers find that only four percent of millennials now hold to a biblical worldview, and that’s roughly the percentage of those who were homeschooled. Another survey from Pew finds about half of evangelicals hold to new age beliefs. Could it be a result of 15 years of twenty minute self-help sermons? How does a church build in a rock solid rooting and grounding in a biblical worldview?

Can the drug problem be fixed by regulation or deregulation or education?  If it is a worldview problem, then how would you fix that?  Nations are finally giving up, and they are deregulating suicide and drug use.  America is ahead of the curve on this, with 9 states legalizing pot and some 31 states allowing medical use of it. We take a look at a biblical view of the legalization of drugs, and the use of strong drink.

Respected Christian pastors and theologians are getting tattoos. 40% of millennials get tattoos. Is that about half of your friends and relatives? To what ends might we go in order to relate to the people with whom we are sharing the Gospel? What about the other accouterments of pagans -- cannibalism, drinking blood, body mutilation, spiritism, prostituting daughters, and androgyny? Will the rest of the Leviticus 19 list be incorporated into the lives of these respected pastors and theologians? Christians need to equip themselves in a right understanding of the truth concerning tattoos and the more fundamental worldview issues that characterize a post-Christian world. How much of the church will drop off into the post-Christian dystopia in the next twenty years? This program contains a careful look at Leviticus 19, Acts 15, and the teachings of the Apostles on Old Testament biblical ethics. This is crucial, foundational stuff for the modern Christian.

How does the modern culture compare to that of previous centuries? Where are the modern trends taking us? Today, man is seeking to define his own reality, meaning, and purpose. These philosophies come through in the post-modern art he produces. Kevin Swanson and Bill Jack discuss the destructive nature of it on this edition of the program, and come back to our call to live to glory of God.

This is a monumental, historic moment in the history of the country. With the confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, the somewhat pro-life, constructionists have the majority on the nation’s highest court. Will this mean the reversal of Roe v. Wade? Can we expect the Republicans to reverse the trends or just rein in the constant legislating from the bench that has characterized the court since Earl Warren? Projection: the court will reverse Roe v. Wade, and return more controls to the states.

An atom bomb has dropped on the family since 1970. The whole western world loosened divorce laws beginning in 1969. Abortion was legalized in 1973. Cohabitation rates increased 20 fold since 1970. The illegitimacy rate increased 7 fold. Homosexuality was legalized in 2001. And homosexual marriage came in 2015. Now is the time to battle for the biblical family. But first, we need to know how God defines a family. What is the importance of covenant? Why must the father be recognized as the federal head of the family? What is the first step to fixing a broken down family? These and other questions are considered with Dr. George Scipione who teaches biblical counseling at Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

Is a revival of humanist classical education working to destroy home education and Christian education in this country? A catalog promoting “classical education” announces that “humanism is exactly what is NOT wrong with the modern world and modern education.” Chrysostom Called the Greek philosophies as worthless as dogs. Augustine calls Homer “a torrent from hell.” And Jerome called the Greek poets “The food of the demons.” Martin Luther referred to Aristotle as a devil from hell. However, the latest fad for post-Christian homeschools seems to be to revive humanist classical education. Aristotle is the “master of [all] those who know.” “The humanism of the Greeks was remarkable. . . “ Who is right in this debate? This may be the most critical question for modern day Christians.

Nothing is more disturbing than the lack of spiritual power and the breakdown of the church, and the handing over of our children to the nurturing systems of the enemy. We interview Joel Saint, organizer of the Future of Christendom conference in Pennsylvania, and Erick Rivas, organizer of the Sufficiency of Scripture conference in South Texas. At the end of the day, what the church needs most is an outpouring of the Holy Spirit and a prayer life that is looking for the power of God over the programs of men.

What happens when a society removes all social restraints? Shame is out of vogue these days. The Christian church attempted to prop up a few fences and restraints in the 1990s, but that proved rather ineffective as well. The bitterness and rejection of celibacy, virginity, and courtship indicates there wasn’t much of a heart change. Yet, the consequences of a shameless, permissive society will be horrendous. Children especially will pay the price for generations to come.

The mega church leader, Andy Stanley told his congregation of 34,000 recently that the Ten Commandments no longer apply. He would rather post the Sermon on the Mount over the Ten Commandments in public places. Only trouble is, the Sermon on the Mount would be more controversial than the Ten Commandments. How do the Ten Commandments relate to the command to love? We also deal with the distinction between the moral/judicial laws and the ceremonial law.

As Christians, should we immediately rush in to defend Judge Brett Kavanaugh, the drinking parties with the guys, and the rest of it? Politics and media have idealized the highest forms of hypocrisy, but we as Christians must stick to biblical principle in the present hearings. Has Mr. Kavanaugh been too cavalier about the drinking parties and the underage drinking? We also examine the move on the part of Christian colleges like Azusa Pacific to accept homosexual relationships as a good thing.
