Christian Clubs Kicked Off Campus - Universities Lost in Post-modern Relativism

August 20, 2018

The University of Iowa has kicked the Christian group Intervarsity off the campus for their insistence that Christians lead their group. Another 38 clubs are getting the boot, because these clubs are suggesting that club leaders but agree to the propositions advocated by the group. When the university destroys the foundations for knowledge, what is left to support in these colleges? How do Christians respond to these persecutions? Compromise and concession is not the solution.

With the resignation of Bill Hybels, the Willow Creek Board, and the new Lead Pastor, the mothership of church growth and modern mega-churches hit the iceberg. American evangelicalism quivers. We take a little advice from our Chinese Christian brothers on this one. We have a lot of silver and gold, and plenty of bodies, bucks, and buildings. What we need is the spiritual renewal. We need to see people rising from the dead. Did American evangelicalism construct half-way houses on the road to apostasy?

Years ago, there were Christian leaders who would promote homeschooling. We remember Dr. James Dobson who would warn of public schools, as a Christian leader who used to be part of an organization called Focus on the Family. Instead of encouraging Christian families to pull their children out of the public schools, now Christian leaders are encouraging their 7 year old children to have a dialogue on transgenderism in the public schools. Is “dialogue” the right word? Besides, the foundations of the public schools and all of knowledge is more important than the transgendered restrooms.

The United States Senate issued a resolution noting that “the awful calamity which now desolates the land may be but a punishment, inflicted upon us, for our presumptuous sins.” A day of humiliation was called. Oops, that was on April 30, 1863. Such resolutions are rare even for churches today. It was a day in which almost everybody feared God, and quite a comparison with a day in which almost nobody fears God. How do Christians view these calamities? Why is there so little humiliation and fear of God today? How should the church respond to these calamities? These questions answered on this edition of Generations.

Can you be good Christians and have a bad worldview? They get their worldview from public school, and they get Jesus from church. We discuss why Christians are still so impressed with the public schools, while the wider public is not. Only 29% of Americans were impressed with public schools in the 2018 Gallup Poll. We also discuss the assumption that knowledge is neutral as conveyed in the public schools. Oliver Woods offers an approach to breaking the public school addiction on this edition of the program.

We take a quick look at Dinesh D’Souza’s new film, “Death of a Nation.” Was the Democratic Party behind the revival of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1920s? Have the modern Democrats abandoned the legacy of Woodrow Wilson, his eugenics, his racism, his socialism, and his vision for one-world-government? Or do they continue to promote that vision? While thousands of farmers are planning to escape South Africa’s class envy, social upset, racism, and confiscation of private property for freedom in Russia, we offer the real solution to these nations in self-destruct mode.

As we revisit the Revoice conferences for the Pedophiliacs and LGBTQ+ people, we ask the question again, “Do we as evangelical leaders really have to pad the coffins with velvet, or could we rather look for the raising of the dead?” We read a letter from a Christian counselor to her patients — Christian “bad girls,” “rebel hearts,” and the like. We contrast the real, resurrected Jesus with flimsy Jesus who can’t quite rise from the dead and walk in newness of life. We examine the accusations that some people feel condemnation, because they walk not after the Spirit but after the flesh.

Why must the most powerful companies in the world support the most egregious sins in the world? Why must big money press hard against God’s morality? Apple tops a trillion dollars in worth, and along with Amazon, Google, and Facebook, they go after conservatives and Christians with a vengeance. However, these E-companies are a house of cards. Last week Zuckerberg lost $119 billion in one day, about 19% of the value of the Facebook. The kings of the earth set themselves against the Lord and against His anointed. They don’t like His law.

Kevin Swanson wonders why the most popular children’s books for 4-5-6 year old kids have to be authored by homosexuals, Playboy writers, and socialists. We analyze the worldviews of Shel Silverstein and Maurice Sendak, author of “Where the Wild Things Are.” And, do they have to be read by drag queens? We analyze the worldviews behind these books, and then suggest some guidelines for wholesome children’s books.

Small churches are looking to maximize their impact in missions support. Large denominations funnel huge amounts of money into mission work that turns out to be inefficient use of resources. Can smaller churches provide ten times the impact with 1 one hundredth the resources? Mark Robinette shares how this was done by one small little church in Columbus, Ohio with the nation of Myanmar. How to disciple the nations on a pretty small budget, on this edition of Generations.  For more information on the mission work in Myanmar, go to missiontomyanmar.com.

Why do Presidents Clinton and Carter readily profess faith in Jesus, but not so for Donald Trump? Why are the pro-abortion and pro-homosexual presidents most likely to confess Christ? Which presidents are most likely in heaven, given a profession of faith in Christ as Savior is important to that end? Is attending a pro-homosexual church on Easter really enough to assume that Donald Trump is a Christian in fellowship with a body, and accountable to a spiritual eldership? We find at least six, maybe seven presidents who provided a credible profession of faith in Christ.
