There’s a lot of uncertainty when people talk about eternity.  They might be unsure of their standing with God because they don’t know if the good they’ve accomplished outweighs the bad they’ve done.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez dismantles the notion that our rescue is the result of our own effort!  Hebrews, chapter 4 describes salvation not as the product of hard work, but the acceptance of a generous gift.

We’re currently in a verse-by-verse study of the book of Hebrews … a New Testament letter that is brimming with Old Testament illustrations.  We may be tempted to simply skip over these ancient allusions.  But when we understand these references to the past, we can better grasp the future we have in Jesus!

In order to connect with God, the people of Israel had to follow certain ceremonial laws.  These regulations dictated what the people could wear, where they went, what they could eat, and much more.  But do the followers of Jesus have to live under the same requirements?  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez turns to the book of Hebrews to explain why these ceremonies were only shadows, while Jesus is the real deal!

A lot of us spend Monday through Friday hard at work.  But at the end of the week are two days dedicated to relaxing.  In fact, many of us are already looking forward to the weekend!  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez says God has a “heavenly” weekend prepared for us as well.  And He wants to make sure, after our work in this life, we don’t miss the rest promised in the next.

With our busy schedules, many of us don’t have time for self-reflection.  We travel through the day set on autopilot … unaware, at times, of where we’re headed.  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez asks us to take moment to examine ourselves.  We’re in a series in Hebrews called Am I Really a Christian?

“Are you a Christian?”  It’s a question we might ask our unbelieving neighbor, skeptical co-worker, or the person across the globe who has never heard the gospel.  Yet, the writer of Hebrews asks that very question of those that profess faith … “Are you truly a follower of Jesus?”  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez begins a new mini-series that’ll help us examine ourselves and answer that important, and penetrating question.

What is our salvation contingent upon?  The Bible says that God’s grace is a free gift we cannot earn, buy, or deserve.  But can we lose that gift by what we do … or don’t do?  Is our salvation conditional on our behavior?  On this edition of Focal Point, Mike Fabarez helps answer A Question of Perseverance, Salvation & Eternal Security …
