The Black and White on Gray Areas, Part 4c

April 16, 2012
Every baby is born with a keen sense of self-interest. Their only concern is for personal satisfaction and comfort. While it’s only natural to focus on our own needs and desires, we have to learn to look out for others. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez continues a study in Romans 14. We’ve been talking about our freedom as followers of Jesus. And today we’ll focus on putting others first.

Keeping up with a list of do’s and don’ts can be exhausting. And when it comes to the gray areas, it’s easier to just go with the flow, and live as we please. While we have a lot of freedom as followers of Jesus, we need to exercise discretion and discernment. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez presents part four in a study called, "The Black and White on Gray Areas."

Long before Jesus walked the earth, the ancient prophets wrote about a messiah who would come to save the world and conquer death. And when we study Jesus’ life, and who He claimed to be…it’s hard to deny the evidence…that Jesus was the promised one! Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez presents the final portion of a study about "Why We Actually Believe in the Resurrection."

Around the world, more than a quarter of the population claims to follow Jesus Christ. Almost two thousand years after He walked the earth, His life and ministry is still impacting millions. But the power behind Jesus Christ isn’t His good moral teachings. Rather, it’s the fact that Jesus is the only one who has beaten death! Today on Focal Point, we’ll consider the evidence for the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Yesterday, millions of people gathered in churches and homes across the world to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Easter is a fitting day to remember what happened on that profound Sunday morning long ago when Jesus rose and conquered death once for all. But how do we answer the skeptic who feels that Easter is nothing more than a fabrication of our imagination? Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez talks about the factual evidence to support what we believe.

Almost two thousand years ago, on the very first Good Friday, Jesus was crucified at Golgotha. His gripping account was recorded with remarkable detail in the Gospels. And today on Focal Point, we’ll be reflecting on the rich significance of what occurred that day. After Jesus died, we read that “One of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out blood…and water.” Explore the importance of this unusual detail, with Mike Fabarez.

Have you ever taken a look at all the heroes in the Bible and thought, "I could do better than that?" If it were up to us, we would likely select the smartest, the best-looking and most charismatic people for the spotlight. God chose average, ordinary people to accomplish His plan. Today on Focal Point, we’ll hear the final portion in a special Palm Sunday message.

When we read about the heroes of the Bible, we picture mighty men and women of God. But when you look a little closer, these people were actually quite ordinary. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez continues a special Palm Sunday message. Gideon was an average guy who was called to deliver the people of Israel. But his example prepares us for what to expect from the Savior of the world.

Countless stories throughout the Bible show us that God is in the rescue business. When people get stuck in the consequences of their sin, God makes a way to set them free. But often, deliverance comes in some unusual packages. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez presents a message called, "King of Kings and Some Unlikely Princes and Princesses." When we study the ordinary men and women that God used in the Old Testament, it helps us understand Jesus’ mission as well.
