Pastor Mike Fabarez

Holiness, Part 2a

July 24, 2012
Ever seen someone’s tag sticking out from the shirt? When the opportunity presents itself, we usually do the considerate thing by letting them know so that they can fix it. But when we see sin standing out in our friends’ lives we’re not as comfortable pointing out the problem. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez talks about our pivotal role in helping others overcome sin in their lives. We’re in a study of 1 Corinthians 5.

All of us have made countless mistakes in our lives. After all, we’re only human! Sometimes we’re not as concerned about our failures as we should be. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez presents a practical and timely message in 1 Corinthians. It’s not exactly popular to talk about holiness these days. We’d rather sweep our sin under the rug, or grow apathetic to our mistakes altogether, but treating sin lightly can be a dangerous habit!

We’ve all heard the phrase, It’s better to give than to receive. When it comes to serving our church family that principle is especially true! Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez highlights the benefits of ministering to other people. We’re picking up where we left off last time in a study of 1 Corinthians. Too often we focus on the challenges, frustrations and discomfort of having to serve, rather than enjoying all the privileges!

When we serve others in the church, what we get in return is priceless! It may cost us something to help and encourage others in the family of God, but we’re promised that every sacrifice will be perfectly rewarded in the end. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez continues a study called, "People Who Make A Difference." When we start to grow weary of doing good it’s important we focus on enjoying the privilege of serving God.

It can be downright discouraging when we give away our time and energy for other people, only to be unappreciated, slighted, or even rejected. To suffer for doing the right thing never seems fair. Maybe you’ve even felt reluctant to get involved in ministry again! Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez offers biblical encouragement for moments of frustration. We’re picking up where we left off last time in a study of 1 Corinthians 4.

Whether we’re buying a house, a car, or even a new shirt, we tend to make sure that the purchase we’re making fits the price. Is what we’re getting worth the investment? Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez reminds us to evaluate the cost of being a true follower of Jesus Christ. Perhaps you’ve found that being a Christian isn’t always easy. Today we’ll find out that’s perfectly normal! We’re continuing a study in 1 Corinthians about "People Who Make a Difference."

In Matthew 28:19, Jesus commands His followers to make disciples. That’s our calling, too! But it’s not enough to merely share the Gospel with people we know…we’re called to help them grow and mature in their faith, as well. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez prepares us for the challenges of discipling a new believer. What does it really mean to come along side someone who’s young in the faith, and inspire their relationships with God? Today’s message is titled, "People Who Make A Difference!"

When’s the last time you asked yourself the question, how does God want to use me today? As followers of Jesus, we’ve all been given the task to spread the good news and encourage others in their faith. Before we set out to fulfill our mission, it’s important to pay attention to some biblical guidelines. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez continues a study in 1 Corinthians about "People Who Make A Difference."

Students in a classroom receive grades for their assignments. Employees get reviews to gauge their progress. As followers of Jesus, we’ll have to stand before God and give an account for the work we’ve done. Today on Focal Point, Mike Fabarez continues a study in 1 Corinthians called, "People Who Make A Difference." Whatever the task, we tend to work just a little bit harder when we know someone’s keeping tabs. Pastor Mike encourages us to be mindful of the scrutiny ahead.
