Mike Fabarez: There are few things more difficult than controlling what we say. Our circumstances and emotions that we face every single day can set off a powder keg of destructive words. But while we can't control all the frustrations that come our way, the Bible says we can learn to restrain our critical words in response to them. We're told in the book of Proverbs that whoever belittles his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding will remain silent.

How easy it is to speak and just have this wildfire of words come out of our mouth, slandering and gossiping other people. But Proverbs goes on to say it's the trustworthy man in his spirit who covers a thing and keeps it covered. Let's become men and women who are trustworthy in our speech, who honor Christ by keeping a careful guard on our mouths.
